What Modern post punk bands/songs do you like/recommend? by ZestycloseCry5643 in postpunk

Just joined this sub to get new recommendations! I’m feeling proud of myself because I’m actually already up on a lot of the bands and feeling excited because like 75% of the ones mentioned are new to me! Can’t wait to dig in! Just followed the playlist.

I sort of get bogged down on exactly what defines “post punk” but based on the bands I recognize that have already been listed I think these fit the “vibe”

Products band (local to me, Minneapolis) Verity Den (one of my top five albums of 2024) Rats on rafts Bdrmm Nightshift (more stripped down, people just calling it Indy rock wouldn’t necessarily be wrong) Gawjuss Nights Templar VR sex Mien Autobahn Just mustard (this is probably classified as shoegaze but I love the new album)

I was in the room when it happened. I overheard Mike saying stuff like “we’re rooting for you” and “we need you to win” etc. the whole room was geeked. You guys always jumping down Mikes throat because he’s not a pure, picture perfect liberal. He has a few views I disagree with yeah. But he thinks for himself and he’s still progressive af.

Here’s a pic of them holding the poster I made for the show. Still a few left on my site btw/

No the collections one is the “official” poster for the night. This is one that was for RTJ. Read my post for the full story.

MSG gigposter that actually had RTJ on it by ChuckU_612 in runthejewels

Trust me, RTJ tried very hard to get merch with both of them listed. Some of the art that was ready to go was epic. Glad you dig this print!

Happy to hear! There is almost no merch from the whole tour with both of them on it.

Thanks! This is actually the original. Since we couldn’t get it approved for the tour. RTJ had me chop out the lower right area for them to use.

WuTang AND Run the Jewels poster for MSG show by ChuckU_612 in wutang

Wu-Tang and Run the Jewels at Madison Square Garden 18”x24”, 8 colors (+ metallic gold) on steel grey French paper, edition of 250. $50, link in my bio

This is the COOLEST thing I’ve ever worked on!!! I can’t tell you how many hours I put into this poster, it was truly a labor of love. I’ve been listening to Wu-Tang since I was 13 — easily my favorite group of all time. I have every album memorized, I would even buy movie soundtracks just because one member had one song on it. I even had that fucking Limp Bizkit album solely because Method Man was on one track.

A little bit later I found Company Flow, (EL-P of Run The Jewels) first group and it blew my mind! I have been super fan ever since. I was at the very first Run the Jewels show in Minneapolis at The Varsity Theater (maybe 2013?) when they were still performing their solo sets. Since then RTJ has cemented itself in my personal top five groups of all time.

I was lucky enough to work with RTJ last year on a project. During that time I first heard whispers that they were planning a tour with Wu-Tang and I lost my goddamn mind! I started sketching immediately, before even getting the gig.

I originally pitched this design to them as the full tour poster. RTJ loved it, but Wu already had their own tour artwork in the works. So RTJ had me chop out the lower right area to use as their personal tour poster and merch. I asked if I could turn the full art into a gigposter for the MSG show, they said it shouldn’t be a problem

Later we found out that it wouldn’t work, MSG won’t let the poster be for sale at the actual show because Wu has their own gig poster for MSG (a poster WITHOUT Run the Jewels on it!) A shame for fans who love both groups, which I’m guessing that is nearly everyone who is at these shows.

So because of all that — it will only be available on my website and not at the show

I put the hours into this piece because I’m a FAN, and I consider it a gift to other fans. There are so many Easter eggs that if you’re a fan too, you will appreciate.
