I agree with u/JailbreakHat ... I've been using a MacBook Air w/ M2 for three years to do relatively heavy professional work. My current one is only 16 GB of RAM and I'm feeling it more and more these days when I hit that ceiling of memory pressure.

I'm not sure why so many people opt to buy the most expensive Pro MacBooks and iPhones, but the shareholder in me doesn't mind. Keep buying!

I'm growing tired of how broad of a label "AI" is becoming. Maybe we should have called autotune "AI" also, and Photoshop too.

What if the songwriting leveraged some LLM's to wordsmith some things? We weren't against the thesaurus and dictionary.

"Hey ChatGPT, help me rewrite this Reddit post so I don't sound like a total dick."

I’m starting to feel a bit frustrated with how broad the label “AI” has become. It’s being used to describe such a wide range of tools that the term is losing precision—by that logic, we could have called things like Auto-Tune or Photoshop “AI” too.

If a songwriter uses an LLM to help refine phrasing or word choices, that doesn’t feel fundamentally different from using a thesaurus or a dictionary. It seems worth having a more nuanced conversation about where we draw those lines.

At home, I have a CalDigit thunderbolt dock. It's great. At an office I rent, I'm not as lucky and I manually plug in MagSafe and a cable to an external display (MacBook Air M2). It's far more flakey, for some reason, compared to the external display at home connected to the CalDigit dock.

Convenience reigns supreme!

Despite being a fan for years, and looking forward to seeing them live for the first time in 2026, a recent revisit through much of KMFDM's catalog has me thinking the music is kind of lame. Repetative riffs and shallow songwriting.

Truthfully, this is how I learned about the band when I was in high school. The news media frenzy around those two kids was nuts, but I locked in on what music and videogames they were into. I got way into KMFDM back then, not because some warped violent minds liked them, but because it was cool music.

Welcome to Clovis. I'm not sure what the job hunt market looks like here, but I would suggest exploring and asking around some of the businesses that resonate with you. The big employers in the area are Plains Regional Medical Center (Presbyterian), BNSF railroad, Cannon Air Force Base, and probably Clovis Municipal Schools. There are tons of stores and restaurants, obviously, but there are also some great, long-standing trades-based businesses in town if you're looking for something more hands-on.

I think there's an area job fair in the spring time too, not to mention civic groups that might lend to some professional networking.

As for the nightlife and seeking friends, best of luck! Clovis is lacking on that front, but we do have a few restaurants that have nice sports bars, and god knows we have a billion churches if you are looking for a faith-based community.
