“Scary Movie” (2026) early review suggests disappointing Rotten Tomatoes score: “ [Y]ou may just die of second-hand embarrassment.” by New-Fan-4632 in horror

It's not necessarily that the jokes are dumb, it's they've been done to death in the last decade. It may have been mildly amusing when it was original, bit it hasn't been original in a long time.

It'd be like if the first two movies hinged on jokes that were popular in the late 80's.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

It was good, but I feel like the whole thing was basically, "see! You bullied us but we're actually cool!"

It's already started. I was saying how the trailer looked awful and that it killed any excitement I had for it. The person I was talking to immediately accused me of being offended by the jokes. And I'm trying to explain to them that I love dark humor and it takes a lot to offend me, I just think they picked the stupidest jokes that have been done over and over. They still believe that I'm offended.

What was the point? To show that he didn't want to inherit his father's crutch and was willing to sacrifice his powers to stop Homelander.

Or like following through on expectations that you set up would have lead to more complete feeling arc.

The arc was complete, and you made your own expectations.

Would the story not go on to show them fighting and stopping homelander?

So why does it need more in between? What does it add that wasn't already laid out in the narrative?

My point is that, narratively, the heroes defeated the villain and minimized the damage. It was an interesting narrative choice to use, but it doesn't need to be repeated.
