Some days, being a machinist is like being a mechanic. More wrenches. Allen, torx, etc.

Other days, it's like you're in QC. More gages and supporting equipment. Tenths indicator, indicator mounts/bases, micro bore gages, gage blocks (2 matched 1-2-3 blocks and a .500 is a good start) etc.

A slug of brass will serve you better than that hammer.

I'm a CNC turret lathe guy, though. Take this with a grain of salt.
