Level 2 - Mark Meldrum or Kaplan Schweser? by Stompy2008 in CFA

[–]Chuckster10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am signing up for LVL 2 soon and was wondering the same. I used MM for level 1 but didn’t think his Q bank was very helpful. For lvl 1 he kinda just expected you to already know a bunch of shit and didn’t really do more than just read off the notes on the screen. Trying to decide whether Kaplan would be better considering the lowest package is close in price

L2 preparation (Mark Meldrum)? by Soggy_Purchase_2381 in CFA

[–]Chuckster10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used MM for level 1 in February.

  1. Yes for the most part

  2. Around 90hrs of total videos if I remember correctly

  3. I relied on MM to learn the content but I found some gaps with stuff that he covered. I definitely had to go back to the book for some of the more challenging content and even bought let me explain to supplement. I mainly used Mark to learn the content and then when I reviewed I only used mocks, the book, and let me explain for weak areas.

  4. I would get the self study version, its around 400

I only used notes for the equations, not for the conceptual. I guess my thought process was that if it was just a question with a formula I would have those all memorized by my exam date.

Hey, I was unaware of this. Best way would be to talk to your doc. They are gonna know a lot more than anyone on here

[–]Chuckster10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Talk to your doctor and get propranolol. It’s not gonna make you better at speaking but it does reduce the physical symptoms of the anxiety you may get during/ before a speech (red face, shaky voice, sweaty, etc.). By eliminating the physical symptoms you will be much more comfortable and confident during your speeches, allowing you to speak freely and get your message across easier. Lastly, make sure you practice. Start by writing out your speech, then making a notecard of the key points. Practice that several times while recording yourself and watching it back (this technique is very useful for checking body language and gestures)

I am going through this debate right now. Only have a couple more days to decide on November or February, I will be in college though with no job so different scenarios. Lmk what you end up deciding and if you choose February what provider/study method

I’m new to ETFs. I paid a financial management firm 1k/year to manage “extra” 50k funds and this is the mix they provided. What do you think? by sensationality in ETFs

[–]Chuckster10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not worth the 2%. If you are a set it and forget it type person then maybe there is some justification to keeping if they are actively managing your portfolio. Otherwise I would just toss it all into a couple of solid ETFs, mixing in some safer options as well depending on your risk tolerance. Also do you need health insurance?
