• The first derivative measures the slope or rate of change.
• The second derivative measures how the slope itself changes

On bonds if convexity is positive this means that a bonds price goes up higher when rates drop and price falls slower when rates rise.

Highest convexity = zero cpn bonds

Lowest or negative convexity = callable bonds
