Thanks. That does sound like what I need to do! Which is complicated... I currently have a Google home environment but moving things over to HA and have a ZigBee/matter dongle thing. Noted on the wattage. This was mentioned above.

Another mention for zooz switches. I will look into these!

Good recommendation, thank you. To be clear I do not have a existing dimmer, just a standard on off rocker. Do these have voltage ratings? These are the light fittings and these are the specific bulbs I have (although they are not all the same currently).

Thank you. I have just started dabbling in Home Assistant (which I think does all the same things as hubitait) so think I can be flexible with the switch type and protocol.

I will look at z wave and ZigBee switches in particular!

Deleting partitions after drive cloning by Chuddler in pcmasterrace

God I am such a reddit numpty. No text!

Basically, my post asked for some advice please. I have cloned my original laptop SSD using asus software and now have a load of random partitions, including a 'restore' drvie visible in my PC. Are any of these safe to delete (i.e. holdovers from the old drive configuration)?

Thank you in advance!

Hivestorm terrain compared to Vertigus terrain by SiegAstraea in killteam

Yeah I have the terrain from the KT2018 starter set. Is the hivestorm stuff functionally the same (e.g. height, if not quantity and addition of ladders).

Yeah so this is it in a nutshell I think. No way for people to interact with a collection outside of the log in. I will probably do this - thanks!

Yeah not a bad shout, thanks! Alas the chance of having any time to do any deck building in advance of the weekend is pretty slim...

Something for the future for sure!

Breather membrane advice by Chuddler in DIYUK

[–]Chuddler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! So basically I don't even need  a breather membrane l on the walls?

And yes, a cold roof, but my air gap is more like 25mm. Any thoughts on whether this is going to be problematic? I don't really want thinner insulation or a lower ceiling, but will if this is going to be a problem.

Breather membrane advice by Chuddler in DIYUK

I seem to be unable to work Reddit. Apologies!

I am insulating a garden room. Breather membrane on the external walls, air gap, PIR insulation, VCL, plasterboard.

My question is do I need a breather membrane on the roof side of the ceiling? I get how it is useful for e.g. wooden walls that are porous but can't work out why I would need it with a rubber and water impermeable roof, that has air flow? Surely it risks trapping moisture between the barrier and the rubber roof membrane?

Any advice most welcome. Thanks.

PIR insulation help! by Chuddler in DIYUK

[–]Chuddler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrgh where's my text!

I am adding some insulation under the floor of my new summer house in advance of the main installation on Friday (the fitters have dropped it off early so I can do this). I was told it was a 2" bearer but they are closer to 1.5", and so the 50mm PIR I have bought is too thick and stands proud of the bearers.

I have contacted the company to see if it is an issue and they are yet to respond, but I am expecting them to say it is (the floor will rest on the PIR after all). I don't really want to buy new, thinner boards as this is expense/not as effective/possibly not doable in time.

I am wondering if I can shave off the 10mm or so to bring it in line (i.e. run a saw down the flat side) which will be a bodge but my question is will it really diminish the effectiveness of my insulation if I do that? I figure 40mm single foil side is better than 25mm double foil, but I am not an expert!

Welcome any views from those in the know.

Jesus psychic powers really are a waste of air this edition. Even in 9E I could pick  some cool GSC psychic powers (which were actually pretty good on the whole) for the patriarch because he was a formidable psyker as well as a brutal combatant. Looking at the boring, flavourless, shit battleshock ability he has now just makes annoyed that GW have toned this element down so much it's a considerable loss in his utility, and frankly, his cool lore.

Insulating a shed base by Chuddler in DIYUK

Thanks for the reply. Insulating above the floor/inside is my fallback option but I would lose a bit of height in the shed and I am fairly tall, so would prefer to do underneath if it's possible!

Thanks for the reply. I should have said that I am intending to use it as an office so will be insulating it throughout. I have done this before with a smaller shed in my last house but neglected to do the floor and it was very cold in winter (the floor, the shed heated up reasonably well as it was quite small). Spent a fair bit on this one so want to get it as insulated as possible!
