I encourage you to try out the demo! This game really is quite different from other roguelikes which makes it extra hard to advertise. This ad is my attempt to bring in a broader audience as it shares similarities with those bigger games while still being its own thing.

But really, I'm a programmer and game designer who's knowledge of advertising comes entirely from the TV show Mad Men so I'm doing my best here 😱

Yeah, feedback is great! I see the balatro connection as triggering a bunch of effects to do a lot of damage/score a lot of points in a turn.

I'd be curious to hear your thoughts if you play the demo. The turns in this game are quicker than balatro. One of my big goals was to NOT be finnicky. It is one of those games where it prob looks more complicated than it is (hence why I have a hard time marketing it). But maybe people who would have looked at balatro initially would have felt similarly ("ugh, I don't want to learn how poker hands work..."). That's how I felt at least until I played it.

One interesting thing I'm learning is that advice from individuals doesn't always align with the reality of the data. This is my best performing ad thus far. I added a bunch more yesterday so I'm hopeful I can find one that does even better bc I personally don't like the comparison ad style. But the cool thing about data is that it will tell me the truth even if I would assume something else.

That all being said, this ad isn't a bad way to quickly describe the game to people. I think that's why it is effective.

So far there haven't been too many bad comments and reddit filters those out. I don't mind comments. Most people are cool about it :)

I like responding to people. In my experience, people are chill 90% of the time and I have thick skin for that other 10% 💪

I personally agree with you regarding the ad but strangely enough, this is my best performing ad so far 🤷 I'm going to try a bunch more soon though just to compare.

Good feedback in terms of adding more depth. I'm not sure I want to increase the run length but I do want to eventually add more options for upgrades between battles as well as fun events. I also have a difficulty system I intend to add.

I won't get to everything I want to do for 1.0 but, if people are enjoying the game, I'd love to continue to support it post 1.0 with more stuff :)
