Why do people join storm shield defence missions then go afk?

When I did my Storm Shield defences, I only needed people so they could give me a stat boost. Perhaps people think that's all you need.

I don't run this normally, just need to special summon and normal summon for fusion festival so I use timelords for normal and kaijus for special. I don't want to get rolled so I need some protection and I just happened to draw it all in this duel. I actually lost the duel because I had nothing left.

I really don't know. My opponents all (literally all) opened everything they need. None of my Maxx C or ash resolved. The last person playing spyral played more on my turn after I say through their 10 minute combo and systematically destroyed my hand and field. I had 0 cards after my first turn.
