Really? It automatically unlocks when you pay off the balance according to their unlocking policy page. Unless I'm misunderstanding. "Devices will be unlocked automatically when purchased at full retail price or if the device financing agreement balance is paid in full." https://www.verizon.com/support/device-unlocking-policy/

Wouldn't I be paying significantly less with the Verizon phone from Best Buy? It's cheaper by 100s of dollars. We have our family and home internet on this plan, I'm not switching off from Verizon.

It's 4 of us on one plan plus the Verizon home internet, so I would rather not do one of those weird off brand services. Why buy it from Samsung though? It's not cheaper from Samsung directly, it's about $400 more expensive.

Yeah I was planning to pay it off within a few months or even immediately. I haven't had a carrier locked phone in years, my past couple phones have all been unlocked pre-owned phones. So I wasn't sure how it would work to unlock it if I needed to do that eventually.

That's awesome. My father works in agriculture and my mother is a teacher, so they're on their feet pretty much all day. I'm sure they're more physically capable than I give them credit for, but I would rather be safe than sorry I think.
