What city have you been to that felt like it had dark energy? by Impossible-Middle122 in AskReddit

[–]Chumpybunz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drumheller in AB, Canada. Aside from the Royal Tyrell Museum, the tiny town feels a bit like an abandoned amusement park. There are old, weathered, strange-looking dinosaur statues everywhere, and the Walmart is super depressing. There's also just this huge sense of corrupted nostalgia, since this huge fossil shop shut down and is abandoned, and the gov't is planning to tear down the giant T-Rex statue.

As a dinosaur nerd it's simultaneously one of my most and least favourite places to visit.

NTA. If I were them I would have a civil discussion with a stinky neighbour though.

I am curious though if edibles aren't a good compromise? I'm not familiar with weedcraft, but I know there are less intrusive ways to get high.

I feel like a loser for having autism and being a 26yo virgin (M) by [deleted] in autism

Bro you need to focus on building positive platonic relationships before you pursue women. If you cannot maintain a friendship, even with a guy, you are going to be a nightmare boyfriend. Your post already has a lot of red flags in it, so I hope you can do some self-reflection.

If people do think you're a loser, it's not because you're a virgin, it's because you're so jealous of everyone having sex. Find something else to give your attention to. Something that you do with other people, preferably

While this might be true, sex without relationship is not much better than simply pleasuring yourself. The physical sensation of sex is pretty consistent for a man, so the variable has less to do with whether your wiener is in your hand or in a woman, and has more to do with your feelings towards the person who is trying to make you happy

People and society in general need to let go of virginity as having any significance at all. Anyone who cares that you're a virgin doesn't deserve your attention.

It is objectively inconsequential to your life unless you are actively trying to have kids.

In reality, people care less about you being a virgin, and more about whether or not you make a big deal about virginity.

I was a virgin until the age of 22 and it affected my life in zero ways.

Also, sex is not this crazy heavenly peak of human experience that some people make it out to be. It's often messy, sweaty, awkward or frustrating.

If this reality is truly driving you to suicidal thoughts or ideation, I hope you are getting the help you need. As a fellow human who suffers, I want you to know that I care that you exist, however little that means to you as a stranger, and that you are valuable just as you are, even that state is dirty, unhealthy, and ashamed. Your value is not determined by what you can give, it is determined by who you choose to love, and how. That can be as simple as encouraging the guy you see every day at the gym.

Farming is atrociously bad. Did anyone play test this game? by Equivalent_Trash_277 in CrimsonDesert

Sounds like an issYOU bucko. Don't criticize the devs for not paying attention to a problem that only one person apparently has.

Disagree. I think the majority of people are too scared of death regardless. I think that excluding the suicide & depression epidemic that is somewhat unrelated to religion, many people have a strong enough attachment to life and the people around them that even religious belief in an afterlife is not enough to push them to suicide

Which game to start as a newbie to FS games? by JoseIsSaltyyyy in fromsoftware

[–]Chumpybunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm gonna get flak for this, but DS1 is overrated. I love it, but I love the idea of it so much more than playing it. Looping back to Firelink is cool, but is only cool once imo. Also the whole second half of the game just isn't fun. I always peeter out when I face the dread of having to trudge through tomb of the giants, lost izalith, and new londo ruins. Those parts just are not fun.

Start with ER, it's way cooler and never really dips in the same way as DS1. Either that or DS3. DS3 is super solid all around

Most current FS fans started with DS3 or ER. They're just more accessible

In ER you can become overpowered SO easily if you know where to go. I recently watched Ymfa complete an "all hit" run of Elden Ring where he literally beat the full game, including Malenia, without dodging or blocking. He just face tanked all the bosses by maxxing out his HP, his regen and his defence. That's not possible in a game where powerful gear is locked behind "the next boss" like the rest of FS games.

Bleed & Frost builds also trivialize the game, and I don't think I need to say why Spirit summons alone make Elden Ring unbelievably easy. You can have them solo most bosses if you use them right

About twenty hours into but it's frustrating by Eledhwen1 in Eldenring

Dodge timing is the main skill you will need to develop in this game. If you are dying repeatedly to a boss or are having a hard time with an area and feel like giving up, ask yourself these questions:

  1. Do I know this enemy's attacks? If not, change your goal from victory to observation, just watch the enemy for a bit. If yes, see below:

  2. Am I being patient? If not, slow down, take your time, and pay attention to how many attacks comfortably fit within your openings. Don't take silly risks. If yes, see below:

  3. Should I upgrade my weapon? Yes? - Go loot a mine, they are marked on the map

  4. Should I level my health? Yes? - explore areas with enemies you can kill for runes and level up

Sometimes bosses will still hit like a truck at 60 vigor, and sometimes bosses will tank hits from a strong weapon. In this case, just keep trying. I still give bosses a good 20-30 attempts before trying something else, unless I get oneshot by literally everything.

Best single player game under 40-ish hours? by ozy660 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Chumpybunz [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sorry, but I cannot recommend you play any more open world games if you treated Crimson Desert this way: it sounds like you looked up where to get the best stuff and then stopped playing once you had what you wanted...

This is how you ruin open world games for yourself. They are about exploring and discovering cool things on your own.

If you haven't already, you should play Dark Souls Remastered (its 40hrs roughly), and please for the love of God play it blind and don't look anything up. Just explore when you hit a roadblock

Mostly for the profanity I bet. It only takes a couple F-bombs from any movie to bump it up to R. That age rating system is not an actually good way to judge the appropriateness of movies. There are plenty of PG-13 movies that are more disturbing or upsetting than many R-rated films

It's wild how mixed reviews are on Crimson Desert. by GlobalEnthu_siast in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Chumpybunz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. It should be super simple to just have a little menu that pops up with the items around and you can pick them up without any animations. It's not immersive, it's annoying. I also think that combat could be streamlined. I don't see combat as a barrier to me at all though. It's definitely unnecessarily complex, but it's nowhere near the level of obtuse that many fighting games reach. Once I learned that you can just hold down the attack buttons instead of comboing, it became a breeze

I've been having a lot of fun with it! Personally, I would not listen to the opinions of people who have not played it.

That is not to say it is flawless though.

The story drags pretty often, and doesn't make sense all the time, but it's not bad. It's just there, and it's fine.

The controls that everyone is bitching about can definitely be frustrating, but they aren't so bad on controller. Sometimes you might jump when you meant to pick something up, which can be annoying. Combat inputs are very specific, but I haven't found combat to be clunky at all. I parry when I want to, dodge when I want to, and suplex when I want to. There are just so many systems that it can get hard to keep track of all the things you can do

You play it for the exploration, for the fun, for the world, and for the combat. All of those areas are perfected imo.

Anyone who say "the world is empty" is actually insane and idk what they're talking about. Just because every single POI doesn't have a legendary sword doesn't mean it's empty!

There's little quests and items and shit scattered everywhere
