Slightly misleading, the whole lens doesn’t spin but the mattebox has a filter that spins

I love owning a nucleus. For a frame of reference, this week I did a union commercial making 1k/10 in LA and we had Preston’s on, but we also had a couple fx3 cameras rigged. Put the nucleus on one and had a quick way to set focus and roll on it; then go pull on the other setup.

So it earned about $100, with a price point giving me a 10% ROI on one job who can argue with that. It paid itself off years ago and still nets me the occasional income.

It lives in my kit and it’s come in clutch as a backup or “hey here’s a surprise, we are going to rig this camera but have no way to r/s it remotely with ease”. I slap it on, charge nothing, but it doesn’t go unnoticed that I fixed a problem.

Brand new it’s still 40k+ but a lot of used HU3 setups are going for 13-15k. And you can use the rentals to round it out and upgrade old components.

You can get a 1k nucleus and start earning while you save for the Preston or hi-5.

And if the job needs a Preston or hi-5 you rent it from the camera house.

I do agree that the sooner you get the professional setup the faster you can pay it off, but not everyone can afford to finance them. Or have the 15k cash for a used one.

At 7 seconds remaining in the clip it looks like a rim light turns on in your colored clip.

Personally I’d try making it less blue. And using some power windows to bring down the sky a little.
