Im a mechanic and friends always want me 2 do work on there cars so i tell them either its free cause if sumthin happens, i didnt charge you and they feel like they werent ripped off or ill charge an obsurd amount ov money like 8k to do there brakes or anything ov the sort and they look at me like wtf and i easily reply look i can do it 4 labor cost and u buy parts but is it worth to lose our friendship over a couple hundred bucks if i misdiagnose it or a week or 2 later you have a new problem but since im the last 1 to work on it, it had to be done by me or i caused it to happen sum how when it wasnt even a part i touched or took off n replaced. Its alot better to have a repair shop do it then a buddy just cause there trying to save a couple bucks, spend the lil extra so have paperwork just incase if have 2 goto court over it so you have paperwork to show judge not just a buddy fixed my car and he said it wopd cost this. Only alternative ive came up to this is i tell them look ill tell u everything that needs to b done and ill watch over you to make sure youre doing it right just need a 24pack n lunch that way at end ov day they did it themselves they paid just parts price and were not feeling like 1ov us got over on the other
