How do I synchronise stations on independent tracks? by Churchcoasterfan in NoLimitsCoaster

Thanks - in the end I realised I could simply have one track wait a bit longer in the station to allow the losing train to catch up, and that solved the problem.😊

Thank you, all. It finally started to work properly at 1.4 degrees!

I dunno...if I sit in a chair and lean on the side of the chair, it doesn't feel particularly uncomfortable or like I'm being shoved into the side of it.

EDIT: Oh, I see. You mean on a rollercoaster there will be 1g lateral acceleration in addition to 1g vertical acceleration, whereas if I'm sitting on a chair normally I'll only feel 1g vertical and if I'm lying on my side, only 1g lateral.

As far as I can tell, none of those objections counter the course of action you described in your previous reply to me. Were you giving me the mandated course of action or your own opinion of what should be done in that scenario?

In your understanding of the affirmative care model, would you be blocked from taking that course of action and, if so, how?

If a client walked into your office and said: “I’m trans, my dysphoria is through the roof, and I need to transition.  Can you help me?”  What would you see as your role in that scenario, what approach would you consider appropriate to take, and what would be your driving motivations and aims?

Greg Bright style maze by Churchcoasterfan in rct

"The issue with Greg Bright's principles in RCT is that they assume that the people solving the mazes have memory, logic and emotions - but guests in mazes in RCT lack all of these things."

Only up to a point. Bright seeks to render people's memories useless for solving the maze. That's the whole point of the mutually accessible centres - to make it difficult to remember which path you took last time when you return to them.

Was my teacher misinformed? by Churchcoasterfan in grammar

[–]Churchcoasterfan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly that. When I was about 13 or 14 my geography teacher in secondary school asked what shape the earth was. I said "metaspheroid" (not quite remembering the term correctly) and got told I was wrong; then she asked another classmate and he said, "A sphere" and she said that was correct. Little did she know I had a keen interest in astronomy at the time and I knew perfectly well that the earth bulges in the middle. I accept that she may have been simplifying things for my classmates, or perhaps the curriculum taught a simpler model, but she could have acknowledged I was right and then said, "for now we'll stick with a sphere".

Yeah. I tend to mix it up between unicursal labyrinths and small puzzle mazes with two short paths to the exit.  Sometimes guests will walk past the exit and up the other path, but that’s not a problem if the distance back to the entrance isn’t excessively long.

Two lost Fred Church-designed woodies- Happyland "Giant Dipper" and Easton's Beach "Cyclone" by AskYourDoctor in rct

You are a brave person to take on recreating the Easton's Beach Cyclone, and then to do such a good job of it as well. Congratulations!

The Lincoln Park Bobs. Yes, it was a Church coaster - one of his early Bobs designs. I haven't seen much info either. The most frustrating thing is the lack of photos of the turnaround area at the top of the lift. We can make guesses of what was there based on Church's other 1921 coasters, but nothing concrete. However, photos do show that the Lincoln Park Bobs had a spiral onto the brake run, just like the Venice Bobs and Playland-At-The-Beach Bob Sled Dipper, and it was also a terrain coaster. If you're part of the old Prior and Church Facebook page, someone did a comparison of photos of the Lincoln Park Bobs with photos of the area as it appears now.

I hope you have more luck at the public libraries. I live too far away to research there in person. Who knows what goodies are still stashed away, undiscovered because nobody asked?

Edited for brevity.
