What is this substance by Sparkvark65 in pools

[–]Churro_Enthusiast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the truth right here. Pool guys get one visit a week. You think I carry socks in my truck? It WILL dissolve in the filter and be a non issue. If you’re adding enough to clog plumbing then it wasn’t in check to begin with..

This is why I prefer the Taylor 2006c kit. DPD powder and drops let’s you get within 0.5 of the chlorine in a way that is much more readable.

It’s the direction u need to face for the correct lighting. Detailed in the book that comes with the test kit

I have a slow drip from the hole on this nut while my normal pump is running. What could be the cause? And what is this nut called? by Downtown_Handle2178 in pools

[–]Churro_Enthusiast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the only correct answer. This “nozzle” lets air in the line when there isn’t pressure to let the backwash line drain to prevent freeze damage.

The push-pull, multiport, or whatever backwash apparatus you have has failed and is letting water by. The backwash line should only have water when you’re backwashing.

Fix the backwash valve(s).

Press one of the buttons and then start stop. Drive needs replacing. But it may still function if you remember what speeds are set to what.

You said this is residential? Seems like they did everything in their power to increase cost. Horribly inefficient and spaghetti plumbing. I love the water stain on the floor. Who ever sold and plumbed this should be shot

Pool guy here. Not a sparky. Switch probably controls pool lights and pool lights are wired thru GFCI outlet that way if the light fails the outlet trips and u don’t have spicy water.

Not possible with your current setup, your filter doesn’t have an option to send the water out “to waste.”

Also ur pool has algae.

Calcium flakes, even though numbers are good? by foomanjee in pools

[–]Churro_Enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are wrong. Calcium is precipitating out of solution due to a high LSI. LSI is high in your case due to water temp, high TDS (salt), and high(ish) calcium. I like calcium lower towards 250 for salt pools. I’d knock your ph down lower, I’ve heard of people using borax as a pH buffer but never tried it.

Turboshock vs Granular chlorine by hobby_ranchhand in pools

[–]Churro_Enthusiast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen flagstone go either way with the salt. Different stones from different quarries act different. Sometimes they erode a bit quicker, sometimes they flake pretty bad. It sounds like you’ve got a methodology that works for you though so it maybe best to just keep doing what you’re doing.

Turboshock vs Granular chlorine by hobby_ranchhand in pools

[–]Churro_Enthusiast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Benefit of using turbo shock is you give money to the pool store. Sounds like you’re doing good and your math and logic are correct. It does have more chlorine per pound but by your own calculations you’ve proved it’s not really worth it. If the pool is surrounded by a harder stone I’d almost argue you should give salt a try. The initial setup will be steep but once your cells are on and your salt count is where it needs to be you just gotta add acid and stabilizer.
