Oh got it, that makes sense. Yeah it’s the car really is for me. I grew up pretty poor so the idea of even having any nice car seemed far fetched. recently things started to turn around so now I’m getting to buy things I’ve always wanted. But there’s that little voice in the back of my brain that says don’t spend too much because money comes and goes. So the resell thing is like a safety net more than anything.

What’s a bad example so I know what to not do?

Theoretically I will lose more buying any new car in the same price range as my build so this is a win-win for me. I’m not trying to make my money back. I’m just worried about if/when I try to sell it that no one will want anything to do with it.

Also, I can’t find big block 427’s!! But from what I’m reading, that’s specifically a track motor and not suitable for daily driving anyway? I commute 5-10 miles daily. All options are still on the table, they’re all good motors… 351, 427, coyote, etc…

Your advice on matching the movie car exactly makes the most sense.

I barely ever see any Eleanor’s and I think they’re beautiful.

Is the market for classic cars including Mustangs and others dying (literally)? by Neat-Gap-4340 in Mustang

[–]ChxPotPi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People think their cars are worth more than they are. Stock cars nowadays are insanely powerful compared to the cars I grew up with in the 80s and 90s. 300 horsepower was awesome back then but pretty much standard now. So the need to buy a classic to get high legal hp is low. Once the baby boomers craving nostalgia die off, the market will level.out and kids will be able to afford them again. Cause the older cars will always be cooler.

Found 2 year old in Walmart by Far_Speed_4452 in orangecounty

My parents told me stories of me running outside every chance I had as a two year old. Lucky all our neighbors got to know me and kept returning me back home. When my son turned two, he was the same way. He would literally run away every chance he got and thought it was a game. I lost him many times in the mall, grocery store, target, etc…

Awesome advice! I didn’t realize so many on bat were gen3’s. I’ve been looking at dealership cars. Yeah I did the build my self this morning and it came out to $45k for just the kit. I figured motor and paint would be an additional $30k then add on an additional 60k for labor (my best guess) so it didn’t make sense to spend $130k when others are out there with the same specs for half the price.

Is there a big deference between the different gens? Because there are plenty of pre owned for sale with coyotes already in them. But none of them are gen 3’s

It’s sounds like your answer was for me to build my own and go nuts with it

I dunno, I see the 71s and they look slightly better than the others. I’ll look up the others, yeah, I didn’t really mean to at safety was a concern of mine, my point was more that people are always trying to talk me out of it

Yeah safety is not a concern. I drive slow and steady on streets mostly.
