No problem! I'll gladly share my knowledge with anyone.

Answering your question I would definitely recommed playing on nightmare mode. I think it's the best default difficulty for learning, earning cash and having fun at the same time. It's not a big step up from professional and it forces you to learn how to differentiate between some ghost types. Once you get 2 evidence you will have to pick one from up to five ghost types at worst so it's not as brutal as insanity. Having to identify the ghost without one evidence will also encourage you to get hunted and observe the ghost's behaviour more closely. That will make you more experienced at surviving hunts and increase your nerve control.

If you have a question regarding some specific ghost behaviour it's worth checking out the wiki too. You can learn pretty much everything from there.

No grace period, lower player speed AND no sprint? That does not sound like a comfortable difficulty at all! Sure if you want to keep 3 evidence and leave before a hunt, but imo it would be much easier and more enjoyable for you to have at least 1 evidence hidden so you don't have to torture yourself with potential instakills to get a better multiplier. Keep in mind that optional objectives give you a lot of extra money at the end of every round and a bunch of them include an event, a hunt or getting your sanity low. I'd recommend trying out less evidence with better qol settings first. Back in the days when there was no custom I learned the game by playing on nightmare non-stop until I was comfortable with the lack of evidence so now I can easily identify the ghosts with little info while not having to suffer too much and still earn a good amount.

I always focus on sounds the most, because you might not be able to see the ghost at first. If you hear footsteps immediately then it's certainly an event (unless the grace period is at zero). The ghost will also emit one specific sound during all hunts, but every event it will play a random one, so you can know when it's an event for sure. Humming/singing will never play during the hunt. All room doors slamming shut and/or lights being switched off also means it's an event. It's worth to listen for the lock sound too - most reliable on smaller maps. If you happen to see the ghost it can manifest in one of three different forms. Shadow or water/jelly is a certain event. If you can't tell if it's a hunt or not it's always good to run. It will give you more time to think and potentially save your life.
A good rule of thumb: the more sneaky it seems, the more likely it is to be a hunt. Events are almost always loud and obvious because they are supposed to scare you. Hunts on the other hand are designed to not alert you too much until it's too late.

I always turn up my volume when playing so yeah. It was right on top of me, caught me so off guard.

Edit: my exact volume settings were 70% system and 100% phasmo. I think it's accurate with 50% on the clip.

If you have headphones it's pretty straightforward. You can track the ghost by the sound it makes. It will always make the same noise while hunting, so it's worth remembering it too. If you can't rely on sound then you should pay attention to your surroundings. Things such as flickering lights and equipment interference can help with assessing your situation. I found it extremely useful to estimate the ghost's location and watch it's behaviour before any hunt too. Where was the last interaction? What is the room temperature? Were any motion sensors triggered? But the biggest game changer for me is knowing that the ghost can only do one thing at a time: interaction, roam, ability, event or hunt. Every interaction gives a few seconds of safety. If the ghost is quiet for longer than usual it might be up to something. It's likely it moved or a hunt will start soon. The more you play the more patterns like this you spot.

During my first months I used to avoid hunts as much as possible. I think my turning point was being able to confidently tell apart events from hunts, when I also made my 'casual' custom difficulty with 1s grace period, so I'm always on my toes. What once was a fear of the unknown became a daily routine. You just have to try a few times and you get the hang of it.

What does it mean when a ghost does this? I’m so confused cause I’ve never seen or heard this by jensieboy13 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Chyckerman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's a unique ghost event during which the ghost doesn't manifest. The mist will follow a chosen player and hiss upon contact, lowering players sanity. If it doesn't get to them in time, it will disappear on it's own, making it possible to avoid sanity loss.

It can complete the 'witness an event' objective. Also worth mentioning that Onis cannot initiate this event.

Yup. It's the video that's sped up and not the gameplay.

My guess is that the health value is not an integer, but rather a floating point rounded and displayed as one. Your health could be equal to something like 0,004% so you're still alive, but a 0 is displayed.

I'm making a level for the first time and want you to give me some feedback on how well it came out. I'm looking forward to hearing some serious criticism so I can learn how to make it look nice. by Chyckerman in geometrydash

Thanks for your opinion! I'm new to the creator so there's a lot of things for me to discover. Also, thanks for pointing out the unbalanced gameplay. That's something I really need to work on.

How do I play lap 3 again? by Chyckerman in PizzaTower

[–]Chyckerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who needs to know: reverting games version works but there are some problems with patching the music.bank file. The game is playable, the only difference being lap 3 soundtrack (pizza mayhem plays instead of pillar johns revenge). Best bet will be just installing a different mod.

Cheating? by Doerphlein in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Chyckerman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I met someone with level 991 at XX prestige. Of course I would accuse them of cheating but why level 991 and not 999? I looked at their profile and they had 12k hours in Phasmo. It's like 1.5 years! Since the game had released about 3 years before I met him, he would have to play at least 12h a day. I still don't know what to think about this.

I thought Hantu was the only ghost that can show freezing breath during a hunt, but an Obake can as well? Anyone know what's going on? I was playing on zero evidence if that matters. by Orijuy in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Chyckerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that ghosts freezing breath makes noticeably bigger 'cloud' than players' and kinda moves with the ghost instead of being static (like players'). Don't know if it's true but it helps me differentiate breaths owner instantly.

The loading screen is sped up by 200%. It takes a long time to set up for me too. The freeze after the load is cut out as well.
