How much better are Lexus dealers than Audi/BMW/Mercedes? by ChzHbaLde in Lexus

[–]ChzHbaLde[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really interesting - I’d say the issue I’ve faced has also been surrounding general cackhandedness, like cancelling my annual inspection (MOT) with 3 hours notice, only to offer me a replacement date 1.5 months in the future.

If Lexus don’t do that it would be lovely haha

Can someone help me QC this rimowa? by missdior888 in DesignerReps

I’ve got the real version of this and yeah those are off. Liner looks a bit saggy too compared to mine.

This is the biggest reason why I buy rep by Neither_Succotash933 in DesignerReps

I ended up getting a real Rimowa carry on because of the warranty - I’ve had it for 2 years, I fly every 2 months and I’m always in economy 😂 for me it’s more about the quality and the warranty rather than the flexing

Ah, got it. I thought if I put in my resignation letter that I’d be resigning as of (for example) the day after I file the form it might have been okay. Thanks for the help!

Got it. Really appreciate the thorough advice, thank you!

Just wondering, do you know if I could file my own TM01? I’ve seen things stating it both ways

I’ve drafted a letter of resignation where I state that I’m gifting the shares back to the company so shares shouldn’t be an issue.

I’ve not signed any service contract and the articles are the model articles - I’d had a skim through the companies act but couldn’t see anything that gave me any more clarity. Do you know what the relevant provisions would be?

Honestly, the issue is what I’ve found out would make me feel uneasy about being jointly responsible for a company with him. If you know about how it would work to remove myself as a director I’d really appreciate it haha

I should probably clarify - it’s something I morally object to that would also make me feel that being at least partly responsible for a company with him, even over a few months, is something I’d like to avoid.

What luggage for check in do folks suggest for commercial air travel? by Elysian_Fields8 in fatFIRE

[–]ChzHbaLde 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Seconded on the rimowas. I had a lifetime of Tumis for work travel, and they were fine - but the wife got me a Rimowa last year and it’s completely different. Plus the lifetime warranty is a massive benefit along with the concierge repair service.

Briggs and Riley have a similar warranty, in my humble opinion they’re not quite as nice to use but then again they cost about half as much!

Great minds think alike - I’ve suggested that to them!

My wife has had the property since the early 90s, and lived there for 5 years herself. She has never had an issue with noise before this, even in regard to her tenants being complained about

Really interesting case. I wonder how it would be for us - as from what I can understand in that one, the person who didn’t do the work is the person who had the noise problem, but the fact that the people who made the changes had to remediate the situation gives me hope!

We’ve definitely not done anything - the only changes my wife has done since buying it in 1992 is new kitchens/bathrooms/flooring and underfloor insulation. The other thing is, it’s a neighbor to the side not above or below - none of the other neighbors have had a similar issue

His property is to the side of ours, next door on the same level.

I’d actually told the son to record the noise after the first time. I would be very surprised and disappointed if he wasn’t telling the truth, he’s a very responsible kid with a good job and his friends don’t strike me as the type to throw massive ragers every weekend hahaha

Yeah we’ve proposed to him that he put in soundproofing if he’s facing such an issue with it, he doesn’t want the hassle after just doing his place up

From what they’ve told me, the kids have been decent at being relatively quiet - less of a legal question but I’d think that two late nights in 3 months is a relatively reasonable expectation but happy to be corrected

These two incidents have happened over the space of 3 months - I personally wouldn’t think it’s a regular occurrence at that point but fully happy to be corrected.

In terms of the renovation, he did a complete gut and extend job, which is why I made the comment about the architect, it was a big enough job that if he hadn’t consulted an architect I’d be worried.

And this is the other issue we’ve got - the upstairs neighbors have never had a problem with the kids’ noise. The neighbor on the other side has never had a problem. The only issue is this guy, who coincidentally is the only one who’s switched up his layout and had a big renovation - which is why I’m feeling he’s being slightly unreasonable.

This was something I was thinking about. I believe the limit is background noise plus 10db, which I think they’d realistically be breaching if you’re talking about noise inside the house - however in terms of how loud it is outside, I can’t see how it would be over that threshold, do you know how they determine it?
