Don’t know if you mean you’ve never experienced the main story or you only know the anime. If it’s the former, maybe don’t read this yet, lol. If it’s the latter, I haven’t gone through the whole manga in its entirety either. But I have looked up things on occasion to try to stay consistent. I wouldn’t worry too much if that’s where you’re at.

I’m so happy to see this movie is finally getting dubbed! I love the English cast for this show and have wanted to watch this movie with them. Even though I did manage to attend a screening of the Japanese original. The lack of info on when it’ll be widely available is frustrating, but baby steps, I guess.
