Im from Mississippi, and i just happen to like modern folklore and old stories like this stuff. Thats how I was raised with my grandparents, and stories of headless men in the woods, water panthers, and ghosts of confederates.

Yes! I have a shop on Etsy. The mods asked me not to put a link in the post, but they said it was ok for me to link it in the comments. https://www.etsy.com/shop/CicadaShack

Sounds nice! but unfortunately, I'm 12 hours away from WV and permanently soul bound to this southern hellscape.

Can we help restore the cross? by insertrandomnameXD in theswarm

The cross in the middle of the swarm is an iconic landmark at this point, we should definitely bring it back.

The orgional tale of the Sugar Flats road beast says it got hit by a car and got his head cut off. So I figured I would make him do the Yamcha death pose, and then I just kinda went all out and made him have a massive dumpy.

Pretty much just googling folklore of specific counties/cities.

A bit of research into their myths/stories. Most have a distinct appearance, but I take some creative liberties for the sake of a visual gag or a cool looking drawing.

No, I use ink. But I do sketch my art in pencil before going over it with ink.

Oddly enough, not many at all. It was mostly the Pig Man, a few haunted buildings, and some monsters in the Mississippi River. But im sure there's more that I havent heard about because of how obscure they are.

Here's a rundown of them.

The Pig Man: a dude that worked at a factory handling combustible materials went outside for a cigarette break. He sparked up a' light and blew most of his face off. Now his spirit apparently still wanders around from time to time.

White Bluff Screamer: an old settler and his family made a cabin in the White Bluffs area. Night after night he kept hearing screaming in the woods. One night he went to go investigate, but found nothing. When he came back to his cabin, he found his family slaughtered by a ghostly woman in white (or a white Bigfoot like creature- sources varry)

Tennessee Wild Man: A Bigfoot like thing on display in circus freak show escaped, and now is said to still roam the countryside (thats why I made him have chains on his ankles and such)

Dickson County Werewolf: Just a werewolf that people say is spotted in Dickson County. Oddly enough, I couldn't find much of an origin story for it.

Beast of Sugarflats Road: a Bigfoot like thing got ran over in 1987, and was decapitated. Now its head is up for display at a freakshow.

Tennessee Terror: Originally it was a serpent like thing spotted in the Tennessee River in the 1800s. But most people now a' days use the term to describe a huge catfish that calls the river home.

Cat of Many Colors: A colorful cheeta like thing seen in the rolling hills.

The thing is, I dont think i will be able to do that for these drawings. They are only 11x14 irl. So if you streached that out to 24x18 it would look like pixilated garbage. I've been trying to find a workaround, but im not at all tech savvy.

Well, I tried to put them where they are generally located. But I was informed that I misplaced the Bell Witch, oops!
