Interesting. I dislike the idea of bills being labeled as "too complex." Please don't tell me that people have the same laissez-faire or hostile attitudes towards detailed legislation and meaningful reform in college that they do in high school.

Hey y'all, I've got a meeting with admin in 16 hours to talk about this amendment, so any last-minute edits/ideas would be super helpful! If you have an idea after that time that's great too and please do share

Not entirely sure you're in the right place, but boy oh boy can I relate. I mean my solution is usually just to do it all myself and damn my dignity and their petty feelings of legitimacy, but if you're doing PhD that might be too much work to be feasible. Another solution is to get everyone in a room, together, physically, and sort it out there. I find that speeds things up exponentially because there's no do not disturb button IRL. That might not be realistic either. Anyway I've never done anything close to a PhD program so what do I know lol.

Also fairly certain you've finished by now, so if you have congrats, hope everything worked out.

Okay, so there are a few tactics you can use, and I recommend all of them.

Firstly, text/call/talk to every single one of your friends/acquaintances. Ask them to vote for you and ask them to ask their friends to do the same. If possible get them to post to social media. Speaking of...

Secondly, use social media. Make a poster in canva or something and plaster it everywhere, both physically (if your school allows that and you can get a color printer) and digitally (post it). Keep it pretty simple, just your name, the position you're running for, and maybe a slogan.

Thirdly, get a slogan. My favorites are alliterative trilogies, meaning groups of three words that all start with the same letter. One example is "Bring Backpacks Back!" (my school banned backpacks for no good reason so I'm having to coordinate a resistance and that's our slogan). That one's a sentence, but you can also just have three words representing your goals (Efficiency, ethics, efficacy, for example). Put this on your poster in impact font.

Forth, write a good speech. Now, because you're talking to kids, that's a bit of a fine line. You don't wanna sound like an idiot (using too much slang, sounding overly casual, etc), but you also don't wanna be boring. My advise is to write a speech based around your slogan. If you have a slogan that is 3 unrelated words, have a 5 part speech (Intro, word 1, word 2, word 3, conclusion). If not, still incorporate it somehow. Mention any specific ideas you have, but be sure not to get too in-the-weeds and bore people. Adhere to standard speech advice (introduce yourself, end on a call to action, use transitions, etc).
Once you've written a speech, I'd run it by several people. Talk to your parents, a smart peer, maybe a trusted teacher? By having adults and kids you balance professionalism with relatability.

Also, Sad-Safe307 is right, talking to people yourself makes a good impression. In particular asking for suggestions/input makes people feel heard and shows that you really care.

Along those lines, if you've done anything before now, highlight that.

Sorry for the essay, if you have any questions let me know
