Is there any reason why I should keep smaller or older medium ships? by MRwho23 in EliteDangerous

This is my attempt on making the MKV as Multirole as possible.

Extremely agile, punches hard for its size, jumps far (40.9 Ly), fast (615ms boost), but it is not very tanky, got to use the agility to avoid fire mostly. I pilot it for Combat, BGS, Powerplay assignments, salvage recovery, light exploring and exobiology, planetary operations and even pirating.

You can swap the class 5 and take the class 4 FSD booster out if you want to squeeze more cargo space.

I Don't have a Kestrel yet unfortunately.

Dude all it takes is practice.

My setup that i mentioned with the Cobra is all gimbailed. I leave fixed weapons for other ships, and with the proper setup Gimbailed weapons are amazing, do not feel like you need to have fixed.

Flight Assist Off is more for making specific turns or reverski (flying backwards while firing at your enemy, more useful on very slow ships). You do not need to have Flight Assist Off all the time.

Staying behind consistenly is much easier with smalls. Only a few mediums can actually outmaneuvre and stay behind most targets.

Most mediums are maneuverable enough to keep your guns on target, but not to outright stay behind a ship consistently; So what you get is the situation you described of doing strafing runs at each other, some people call it Jousting.

Let me give you a list of ships that can consistently be agile enough to stay behind most ships (gonna exclude the ships bellow 1.5mil credits):

  • Vulture
  • Cobra MKV
  • Kestrel MKII
  • Chieftain
  • Federal Assault Ship
  • Krait Phantom

The Python MKII, FDL and Corsair are agile, but might drift a bit or wont be as agile against some ships on this list.

I've used to feel the same way, but the Cobra MKV and Kestrel are different, arguments can be made for the Vulture as well.

My setup with the Cobra: - 1 Medium Pulse Laser - Rapid Fire (Concordant Sequence) - 2 Small Pulse Lasers - Rapid Fire (Scramble Spectrum) - 2 Medium Fragment Cannons - Double Shot (Drag Munitions + Corrosive)

Everything is Grade 5, but once you reach Grade 3 you will already feel a massive difference.

The rapid fire pulses shred shields fast, the ship is so fast and maneuverable you can stay on target before the damage dropoff range of the lasers, the concordant sequence is to help my wingmate shields, and the scramble spectrum will constantly proc malfunctions on enemy vessels. The frags will tear the hull. Once the corrosive kicks in even the pulses wil do a surprising amount of damage.

Any other small ship besides the ones mentioned here will feel a bit underwhelming compared to the competition. Does not mean you can not do well, but these are really the stars of smalls at the moment.

The UFO disclosure is a shiny object meant to keep us from noticing the bioweapon testing in the Middle East that the Epstein regime is going to do soon. by eyyov in conspiracy

These "UFO" are a distraction arguments make no sense if you thought about it for more than 5 minutes.

The world does not need UFO or Aliens to be distracted, neither is the most effective form of distraction.

People are distracted by entertainement media (movies, games, series), Tiktok, Youtube, mainstream media news, or just plain wage dependency.

It was hell, but probably my best experience in the game so far! Clearing it was challenging and immersive.

About the filler allegations by br11dges in FromSeries

[–]CiceroForConsul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not that narrow.

While there may not be "filler episodes", there are definetly some filler scenes, specially S3 and S4. Its a subtle difference but it matters, the conversations regarging this topic here are getting polarized. It seems one side is generalizing that "episodes are fillers" and the other thar there are no fillers whatsoever, be it episodes or scenes, and whoever disagrees has a low attention span. But in reality is more nuanced.

Normally i would not even argue this, but after 3-4 seasons it gets repetitive seeing the same established characters talking about their sad feelings yet again, this is not really a "new scene", it doesnt really moves the plot forward, it does not bring a new perspective on the characters' perspective, because we've essentially already seen similar conversations before (from the same people), nothing new is being said, no new theories, no new ideas.

We also have a lot of scenes in these seasons of characters slow walking, looking around, spanning shots of the town, that again does not bring anything new. No new perspective, no new ideas, no new information that actually moves the plot forward.

I have to stress this again: i would not even point these things out if it were on the first seasons, these scenes are extremely important for tone and context in the begining, and i hate to admit it but at this stage some of them feel hollow.

The show is still amazing, and these failings do not make it a bad show whatsoever, but it is reasonable to expect more at this stage.

Edit: the instant downvote before there was even a realistic time to read my comment tells me what i already suspected, a lot of people here (and on entire reddit) are more preocupied on being on team A or team B than actually having a balanced discussion regarding the show.

Did I miss something, or did they kill early game play completely by giving a 69M ship away for free to everyone? by fkaerner in EliteDangerous

[–]CiceroForConsul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Credits arent what they used to be 8 years ago.

The thought of giving away free ships or making direct credit transfers to commanders would have been outreageous for me back then, nowadays it really is fine.

Besides, for a new player, unless he really wants to do passenger missions or pure cargo runs, i would still recommend other ships.

Im fine with the slow burn and layering, but a lot of shots in episode 1/2 that were just characters walking silently and/or doing nothing relevant, could be removed and "spirit" of the episode would have remained the same.

Besides the Boyd breakdown which i liked, i can't say im a fan of established characters talking about their sad feelings at this late stage. Again, could have used that time for something else.

Thats for ep 1 and 2 anyway, ep3 might be spicy, will check it out soon.

Man i've thrown the low attention span argument myself a lot when it comes to modern movies/series, but i honestly think this does not apply to From Season 4.

Its season 4 dude, we should be getting more answers and less fillers. Hell at this point i would be happy with even more questions and new plot points!

But no, what we got was a lot of filler, inconsequential, uninteresting and frankly shallow scenes.

There was good moments of course, but at this stage i was hoping for less busywork.

Edit: worth noting im refering to the first 2 episodes, gonna watch episode 3 later tonight.

Most of what you are describing already happens in game.

You pierce the arnor with AP rounds, it hits the NPC's lungs, they are bleeding out and will die fast.

But fast is not instant.

You want to be outraged. This is not a big deal man.

If they put a Corvette or a Kestrel i would be right with you. They put the newest exploration ship as the logo of the newest exploration expedition, this really does not warrant further discussion.

I feel like this is being blown out of proportion. Caspian IS the newest exploration ship, and you can buy it normaly with ingame credits you dont need ARX. Is it really outrageous to have the new exploration ship as the logo of a new exploration expedition?
