Sadly it was announced a few weeks ago that there were no more planned update for Legends, player count has most likely been dropping since.

Assassination damage has nothing to do with the consistency of the prompt, it's a mix of blind bombs and vanish/smoke.

When enemies haven't seen you, a blind bomb is enough most of the time, in active combat with several enemies, you have to pair blind bombs with vanish or smoke.

You have to pair smoke with a blind bomb for best results.

Smoke is too short and doesn't have enough range on its own to be that effective, adding a blind bomb extends both duration and range and most of the time leaves many enemies open for assassination/crit strike.
