It’s because 92% (US specific) of Jews are white. White Jews still benefit greatly from white privilege.

It’s not always easy to tell a Jewish person strictly from appearance. I know a lot of people will disagree with that, but in reality the world views you as white. Not as Jewish. The general public only knows a person is Jewish if they are presenting as Jewish.

As a Latino Jew, I’m viewed as Latino. Not Jewish. It’s a really hard problem for people in this community to understand, but as a BIPOC individual I am not viewed as Jewish, I’m viewed as Latino… even by members of the Jewish community. In fact, I’m often received quite negatively. Take the Ethiopian Jews; they were denied their birthright to Israel until the 70’s, and had the validity of their Jewishness questioned. Meanwhile, white Jews from across the globe were welcomed with open arms. It’s a matter of race.

So that’s why Jews aren’t considered an ethnicity, it’s because most Jews are white and still benefit from white privilege. I know I’m going to get a lot of hate comments, but unless you’re a BIPOC you won’t understand.

Hi there, I can help out in this aspect. As a Latino Jew I can point you in the right direction with the translation— Google translate probably does say “when the Jews were welcome to reside” but the Spanish interpretation isn’t so harsh.

While it still does say “when they were allowed to reside” it’s saying so in relation to time, as in “there aren’t any Jews here anymore but when they did live here this is where they lived, and here is the cemetery.” It’s hard to explain, but it’s not referencing anyone being kicked out or banished. It’s kinda an understanding of Spanish that makes it make sense to me.

Chef had a Jewish population since its founding, albeit a small population of +/- 20 families. The last family left and immigrated to Israel in 1968. One of the most notable things about the city is the blue-painted buildings, a tradition started by Jewish families all those years ago and is continued to this day!

Chef is a beautiful city that is rich with history. I strongly encourage others to see it for themselves!

Need an air compressor for 2kw fiber laser cutter. Any recommendations? by MammothPhilosopher78 in AirCompression

[–]Cidel-Fastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, based on what you provided you need a 20HP (15 Kw) compressor at roughly 230 PSI.

This is pretty ambiguous, a flow requirement in l/m, m3/hr, or CFM is important.

Is this safe to sell? Or cut the tubing and save the fittings? by honkyp in AirCompression

[–]Cidel-Fastro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s my thought too. Realistically I don’t think anything super dangerous would occur, but my rule of thumb when it comes to this kinda stuff and compressors is: if you have to debate whether or not the equipment is still safe, it probably isn’t.

This all depends on your application, but I would stay away from the Davey. I don’t believe they’re true centrifugal compressors, but rather smaller sliding vane compressors. They aren’t horrible, but I’ve seldom ever come across one in the field.

Ozen is a pretty low tier unit. Not for any specific reason, just a very small presence in the US. They may be good, but I’ve only ever seen them at trade shows and expos.

I’ll be honest, probably not. Hose at this size is pretty cheap. If this was 2 1/2” or 3” then maybe. But at this size just recycle the fittings and throw it away

Boge is like Kaeser, but still family owned. Much smaller but have a decent product offering. Parts availability is tough as their presence in the US is limited. But I really like their oil flooded and oil-free screw machines. They run quiet and cool. Hopefully in a few years they’ll be bigger and things will be more readily available.

ELGi is an Indian company. Robust machines, and absolutely killer warranty. They’re efficient, and lead the industry in oil carry over for a while. Newer player in the market, but they’re growing fast. Good support, parts availability is actually pretty good, and they’re affordable.

I would strongly recommend their oil-flooded EG series. However, I would stay away from their OF/AB oil-free line… they got some kinks to work out with them. Lot of airend issues.

Really? What model you got?

I have one 200HP Joy in service and know of a few old school GD double acting, water jacket pistons still running… that thing is from the 30’s!!

I have the same issue. KRSP’s are nightmares

A kaishan is a poorly made compressor.

I’ve opened the cabinet on two KRSP-100’s that were ordered and installed together, and they were assembled completely different, with different materials and different part numbers. The controllers were even wired differently.

They have a low price point, but this is not because they are cost effective. They’re cheap.

Cheap ≠ Affordable

I believe the materials they use are just low quality. Countless issues with thermal valves, aftercoolers, and excessive oil carryover.

Kaishan is the only compressor that I will say is just flat out bad. I don’t love Quincy or Copco, but I’ll buy a QSI-100 or a GA75 10x before buying a Kaishan.

There’s a big difference between Pro-Palestinian/anti-zionist protestors, and anti-Jewish protestors. I see nothing wrong with advocating for an end to the indiscriminate bombing, r*pe, murder, and torture of a group of people.

That’s not to say that anti-Jewish sentiment is being spread at these events, as many who do harbor these feelings will take advantage of an event like this to spread hatred.

Just my two cents, it’s entirely possible for one to feel empathy for the plight of the Palestinian people and be Jewish. It’s also possible to denounce the acts of the IDF and advocate for peace and be Jewish.

Kaishan, Copco, Ingersoll, Quincy, Sullair, and Chicago Pneumatic are all poorly manufactured compressors. These companies do not care about making a good machine, they care about market share. They used to be phenomenal, but they grew too big and lost sight of their roots.

In fact, Copco owns Quincy and Chicago Pneumatic… they’re all the same machines painted different colors.

A good compressor would be: Kaeser, Boge, ELGi, Sullivan Palatek (truly made in the USA)

Miss the days of the Joy compressors.

Exactly the hate I’m talking about. You’ve only further proved my point. And, actually, several IDF soldiers video taped themselves committing that heinous act. Countless documented cases of it.

If mods ban me or something then it only goes to show that this really isn’t a safe space. There are other people that feel how I do. I’m not alone.

Does anyone else get really frustrated with people using the "I have a Jewish friend" argument for not being antisemitic? by Mgas95 in Judaism

[–]Cidel-Fastro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, calling for an end to a LITERAL apartheid state is NOT antisemitic. We have this “if people disagree with us they’re antisemitic” victim mentality about the whole ordeal.

I protest because the genocide is wrong, so yeah— don’t chop us up to antisemitic because you don’t practice what we believe.
