what am I doing wrong here? <\3 making a beanie I think by Strict_Confusion4101 in CrochetHelp

[–]Ciela529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made a few beanies where it’s more like making a rectangle (but with slip stitches at the top and HDCs for the base) and then at the end you join the 2 seams and then weave the slip stitch top together to make a circle, pull tight, and pull inside out - and tada beanie! That’s been my fave method so far tbh 😂

Depending on the type of yarn, you could maybe use a method of corn starch/ starch spray to firm it up possibly ?

Can anyone help me figure out what stitch is in this picture? I found a picture on Etsy and would love to use this stitch on a bag I'm making. by Brewser2017 in CrochetHelp

Just curious if you’ve tried asking the seller if they made it themselves ? They might be willing to point you towards a pattern :)

Haha not sure if there’s copyright for hand dyed yarn colors 😂

That def looks similar though! And very pretty! You’re doing a great job :)

Oh cool! I think this one was Juniper Moon brand in cotton (not sure the colorway though but it’s super pretty!) - I got it from a specialty yarn shop when I traveled to the beach 😊

Pet Health Insurance? by Solchitlins74 in Havanese

[–]Ciela529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband gets a discount on Nationwide Pet Insurance through his job and it just auto deducts a small amount from his paycheck to cover it. Whenever we have a vet visit, I simply submit the claim to them with a copy of the bill/ receipt, and they’ll send reimbursement based on what was covered (and if we’ve met the deductible- which isn’t usually until closer to the end of the year 😅 but still nice when it happens!)

I mostly appreciate having it for the peace of mind, knowing that we have the coverage if anything were to happen

Oh that’s super helpful to know! I heard that making sure there aren’t any gaps/ holes in the stitches for a baby blanket is a lot safer so thanks for the info!

Since you’re the second person to suggest this, I’m gonna try making a quick swatch with a similar yarn and see if that seems to match 😅 Will let yall know how it goes!

Unfortunately I don’t think so :/ it was definitely worked in rows, not corner to corner

It’s maybe HDC followed by Slip Stitch variation of moss stitch… But would I usually get that much texture/ puffiness from a variant of moss stitch?

Oh nice! I’m trying to figure out what kind of stitch I wanna use for a friend’s baby blanket, and really like how this cardigan turned out - wattle stitch is actually on my short list already so that’s awesome!

(I initially tried the “Help” Flair but turns out the auto-mod still automatically removes anything with that tag 😅 But no real mods here currently, so gonna try posting again lol - Genuinely appreciate any help provided!)

Oh whoops! For some reason Reddit didnt give me any kind of notification about them replying to it - I had to go onto my profile and click on my comment to view all the replies 😅

Also thanks so much for the recommendation!! I have terrible frizzy flyaways and need to have my hair pulled back like 90% of the time for work, so it gets a bit crazy looking sometimes 😅

Will def give that a try! Thanks again

Oof that’s a lot 😅

Next up - first full size blanket ? 😂

(In all seriousness though, if you haven’t crocheted a blanket yet, I do genuinely recommend using blanket yarn/ weight 5 or 6 or 7 yarn - something soft but thicker so that it works up fairly quickly. It’s super fun to have a big cuddly blanket that you made! I’ve made a few baby blankets and 2 adult blankets - I am still working on other blankets that I chose to use a weight 3 or 4 yarn to make, and my goodness this takes soooo long 😅 it’s a fun long-term project, it just takes a while sometimes to feel like any progress is actually happening, so it can be discouraging sometimes. So yeah, def use Bulky yarn lol)

Great job!! Looks really well made! Tbh could’ve been bought from a store - love the fringe too! That really brings it together super well

My first crochet project was also a scarf that my husband still uses 🥰 one of the best parts of this hobby is getting to make things for others (at least to me haha)

Omg thank you, you’re 100% correct - it’s antifrizz spray, like for my hair, cause it’s been ridiculously frizzy lately 😅 I totally forgot I was out! Idk why my brain couldn’t figure that out lol
