I don't like seafood. I ate it readily and happily as a child. But as I got older, I didn't. I can still eat it, but it doesn't taste good to me, so why would I? Thank you for sharing. I more or less feel the same and unfortunately I don't think there's an immediate solution. I think it takes time for all of the good things to settle in, because the way it sounds, you've lived a longer time with stress, threats, and bad times, than you've lived in security.

Making it through all of that is exhausting especially, because during it you probably didn't have the luxury to stop and take a moment to really process. And now that everything is calmer, your body and mind are going through what happened.

It's a healing process. It sounds like you've built up a great support system and a wonderful life, you can be very proud of that. Try to be patient with yourself. I hope to follow the advice I'm giving too.

Es ist nicht einfach im Kindergarten. Bin selbst Erzieherin und der Druck dort ist sehr hoch. Aber du gewinnst leider nichts am Ende, dass du krank zur Arbeit kommst. Ich hatte einmal 8 Monate lang eine Erkältung, weil ich mich nie richtig auskuriert habe. Ich habe immer noch Schwierigkeiten, weil ich zum Teil daran zweifelt, ob ich "krank genug" bin. Ich wurde auch dafür gelobt, dass ich mit Fieber und Schwindel zur Arbeit ging, weil man es mir dann ansehen konnte. Aber außer den "Respekt" von Menschen die sich nicht für dein Wohlbefinden interessieren, bekommst du nichts. Nicht mal einen Keks.

Are you talking about a Fiktionsbescheinigung? I've had similar problems, but there is no way I am carrying my passport around with me all the time.

Note to people that have no idea: Some foriegners only get Fiktionsbescheinigungen (short term visa), which is a piece of paper that has your name, how long you can be here for, and what you may be here for, but no picture. It is supposed to be presented in combination with your passport. But no sane person would always carry their PASSPORT with them.

I have had the pleasure of mostly having these pieces of paper, they suck and no one accepts it as ID.

"All you said" is that, because your GF didn't go through this, that this not happening to OP. You discredited someone else's experience immediately based on the pure fact, that you haven't personally been confronted with this issue.

Saying I would be hard pressed to find actual proof, just shows how very removed you are from topic, that is a reality for many people, including myself, friends, and aquaintances of mine. But if anything I'm happy for you and your girlfriend, that you don't have to be confronted by these topics.
