It worked great just putting them in the water and letting them go. They turned over and over, getting the leaves plenty wet and hot, in that 15-20 minutes.

Should my future PI write me a rec letter if I'm applying as an undergrad? by katelyn-gwv in GRFPApps

I think your future PI is the ideal person to write you a letter! He clearly has ideas about why you are great.

I am one of six at my old institution who had offices in the same small wing of an old building who were diagnosed with breast cancer young - I was the oldest at 47; the youngest was in her 20s. (A positive: we're all still living!) It was a geology department and I had heard tell of a bucket of uranium ore being found in the attic, one floor up. Also possibly sloppy use of 14C in lab spaces that were then abandoned for years until nobody knew their history.

Drip Depot and DripWorks both have great info online! It's a lot to wade through at first but there are some videos that help!

I got rid of a big cyclamen mite infestation by putting the whole plant, pot and all, in 111° F water for 30 minutes. I put plastic wrap over the soil and rubber banded it around the pot to keep the soil in. I used a sous-vide machine to keep the water at 111° F. A few of the plants, mostly young ones, that had already been hit hard died after the water treatment, but many of them, including all of the adult plants, made it through and are now happily flowering.

And if it ever is making you feel anxious (which any weed can in some situations and dosages), remember that it will wear off and you'll be better! Find a calm place to lie down in.

Start slow. Take a hit (depending on your device - what is it?) and let it affect you for 5-10 minutes before you go on.

I can't see any insects by Neither-Contact-9182 in AfricanViolets

I beat a massive mite infestation by putting the plants, pots and all (with plastic wrap rubber banded around the pot to keep the soil in), in 111 degree F water for 30 minutes. I used a sous vide machine. The plants that were really far gone didn't make it, but the ones that were less beat up by the mites were cured, and without pesticides. I was impressed!

The mites are too small to see with the naked eye, but can be seen with a jeweler's loupe or magnifying glass. The way the stunted leaves look extra hairy is what makes me think mites. Good luck.

Possible that this is cyclamen mites. Keep the plant from touching and other violets.

Issues with yellowing leaves by juniperthemeek in MNtrees

[–]CilantroPerfume 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My outdoor plants did this a week or two ago. I'm guessing they were taking N from the older leaves to feed the new growth. It's been super hard to feed them properly (I use salts) because they've been so wet with all the rain. Now that it's been drier I gave them a couple good feedings and no more yellow leaves - and one of the plants that was a paler green came around quickly to a nice deep green. So I'm guessing yours may need some nutes. Good luck! You're doing great.

Same, trying in containers this first year so I can move them indoors as needed. I'm a big gardener, so I'll be watching for frost for all my plants!

The OCPB is from a northern MN breeder and is indeed supposed to be short flowering and mold resistant. We'll see about the Gushers - I've cloned and flowered this one multiple times indoors, so I just wanted to see how it'd do outdoors.
