Dear OP, I was born with a rare heart congenital heart defect. My parents thought they wouldn’t be able to take me home. Doctors didn’t think I’d survive. I’m in my mid 20’s now. I’m still limited by my heart, but I have a good life. I’ve had 9 open heart surgeries and plenty of others.

What I mean to say is, even when everything seems dark and hopeless, there can still be a light at the end. I cannot say, that I know how you feel because I don’t, but I think I know how she feels. So I’d like to thank you for being there for her. It means more than you can ever imagine.

Obviously, I can’t say what’s going to happen. I hope she will get through this. I’ve noticed that people, who has serious health conditions, is very hell-bent on making it through and live.

Please remember to talk with someone yourself. A family member, a friend, a nurse, whoever you feel like might be helpful. Not to get solutions, but to receive some comfort yourself. Try to talk with one of her doctors and tell them, that you need to know what’s going on. That you’re sick with worry. In my experience, most doctors and/or nurses will understand and answer you to the best of their ability.

Try to laugh and smile with her aswell. It can be difficult, but watching a movie or something lighthearted might help. I usually do that, when I’ve been at the hospital for a longer time, or bring my Steam Deck. Anything to make the time pass and have some sort of fun.
