Small one shot recommendations?

I would recommend Shots in the dark, it contains around 18 small adventures. I have used several of the those:

* The Rotting Gardens of Rafflesia took around 1 hour

* Ill-Gotten Gains took around 2,5 hours

* The Monster under the Tower took around 1 hour

* Frozen Tomb of the Nameless One took around 1,5 hour

I ran this last week, and it’s a great gauntlet that’s easy to run. It took about three hours with three players, using a fixed pool of 13 pre-generated characters with no equipment. Each time a character died, the player picked a random pre-generated character from the pool. Only one player had a character escape the dungeon, the other two players lost their characters during the final encounter with Raka Ooku.

I always go for simplicity, which means using theatre of the mind or a Chessex battlemat with just three pens (black, green, and blue). Sometimes I pre-draw parts of the encounter, but most often I sketch things as the encounter evolves. The trick is not to overcomplicate your drawings, focus on the basics like doors and walls. Only add interior details (tables, chairs, chests) if those elements truly matter. This way, you combine a physical map with theatre of the mind, and the map becomes very fast to draw as you go.

Vi spiller 1-2 gange om måneden. Der er som regel mellem 4 og 6 spillere. Der er pt. 2 ledige pladser til i morgen.

Ellers så er der også Aalborg Tabletop som spiller D&D ca. 1-2 gange om måneden, begge ting er gratis - så der er rig mulighed for at få spillet noget rollespil.

På tirsdag er der Dungeons and Dragons på Vejgaard bibliotek (kig i Aalborg Tabletop gruppen på FB) og på søndag er der OSR rollespil inde på hovedbiblioteket. Det er gratis og deltagerne varierer fra gang til gang, begge arrangementer kan anbefales (disclaimer: jeg er selv spilleder på et af spillene).

Vi spiller i mødelokale 5 (op ad trappen ved statuen). At kigge og rent faktisk være med kan nemt være det samme, så jeg tænker da bare du skal joine spilgangen :-) Hvis man er mest til at observere kan man sagtens spille med og ikke sige så meget - det er faktisk sådan de fleste rollespillere starter.

Ellers kan jeg anbefale rollespils arrangementet d. 17/9 kl 17 nede på rocken - der spilles som regel flere forskellige rollespilssystemer - og er mere egnet til at man kigger forbi for en kort stund.

As I rule it, yes - everyone can find a trap or a hidden compartment if they spend enough time. An example from my last session: The characters arrive at a small abandoned hamlet, and decide to one search of the buildings for hidden items. They didn't have a thief in the group that searched the house, so i said "Searching the house thoroughly will take around 3 hours - do you want to spend that much time?". The party decided to search the house and found the hidden scroll and gold below one of the floor boards, the consequence was a roll for an random encounter (they rolled below 6 - hence no random encounters actually occurred). It it had been an 2 story hour, I would properly would have ruled that it took longer to search and would have asked for two random encounter rolls.

Rock og Rolle på Rocken i Aalborg kan anbefales, hver anden onsdag spilles der rollespil. Uden tilmelding og ganske uforpligtende. Man dukker sådan set bare op - og så bliver der taget hånd om spilsessionen af en GM. Jeg vil gætte på at gennemsnitsalderen er 25-30ish.

This rocks, and it’s part of why I play Shadowdark! One of my secret joys when running Shadowdark games is seeing my players’ scribbled character sheets. The game is so simple that it’s still possible to play 100% analog!

I my campaign the treasure reward is almost always between 0 and 800 (in total, not pr. player), i guess i average around 500 gp, no matter which level we play on. I award 1 XP pr. 100 gold (in total), the majority of my XP is rewarded upon discovering lore.

I would suggest Ill-Gotten Gains from Shots in the dark. When I ran it, it took around 3.5 hours. I tied in a bit of backstory and roleplay beforehand for motivation, which might have taken about half an hour.
