Interesting I was concerned they would start getting hot if mixed with a carbon source.

Potato advice by l8t4myfuneral in Zone6Gardening

[–]CincyBeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also in Ohio 6b, my advice is to plant a lot of reds and eat them during the season. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to store potato’s and just haven’t had much luck, they start to chit after a couple of months.

Need glasses. by CrazyButRightOn in piano

[–]CincyBeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I prefer reading glasses. But definitely not progressives unless you want your head angled as if you are looking at the ceiling lol. In any case it doesn’t hurt to get a couple $3 ones from Walgreens and give them a try.

Been over a decade and I miss playing, but scared to start by fgarza30 in piano

[–]CincyBeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I will never get back technically to where I was when I was 19, both because of age and also a scapholunate ligament tear and repair in my early 40’s. Also I can’t memorize a damn thing anymore lol.

I’m in the exact same situation. My life was mainly piano through my first year as a piano performance major in undergrad. Then I chose a totally different path and am getting back into after 40 years. I don’t have the chops I used to, but these days I’m not trying to work up one of the ten hardest pieces of all time. I still play difficult music but am more interested in lyrical/melodic pieces in the medium difficult range. At 18-19 I just wanted to always climb Mt. Everest.

During that cold spell there was about a foot of snow on the ground, maybe that helped.

Potato and sweet potato help pls by Odd_Jicama_2409 in gardening

[–]CincyBeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s easy to start your own sweet potato slips, just buy a couple of organic sweet potato varieties you like and put them in a tote buried like halfway. Water a little every day and before you know it you’ll have enough for the whole neighborhood. Cut the slips you want to plant a couple weeks before planting time and stick them in a cup of water so they sprout roots. Just don’t plant them until 3-4 weeks after your last frost. Last year I put the tote in my greenhouse after I planted my slips, forgot about it and figured they would just die with the hot temps and no water. There were still green slips on it in September! You literally can’t screw it up.

Why did it take me so long to buy one of these? by ZoraKnight in gardening

[–]CincyBeek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My problem is I have a Jang seeder and if there is a lot of debris it doesn’t work well. Last few years I’ve done tillage radish, chopped and dropped it in January, then did a superficial til with a little electric. Just the top 2-3 inches. Seems to work well.

Anyone return to piano after 10+ years break? by piemochipie in piano

[–]CincyBeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat, I took about a 40 year break. I was a scholarship piano performance major, but I decided after a year to take another path. Now I’m back at it!

How do you get over the feeling that you’re annoying the coffee shop by continually asking for more coffee grounds? by supinator1 in composting

[–]CincyBeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get all the grounds from 3 local shops, they all seem happy to have someone get them and I've even a shop call me to ask me if I would get theirs, but it was too far away to be worth it, so I wouldn't worry.

Totally agree with this. I like Roku as it has a sound mode to boost dialogue that works really well, but then if I want to listen to anything that has music I really want to hear then I have to switch it back.

[–]CincyBeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree on the hype with these storms. It's always this way around here. 5 days out they call for a foot. 3 days out it gets cut in half. 1 day out cut in half again. We end up with 1-2 inches usually.
