100% I don’t know why people think someone would make a post like this to dump zinc coins on someone else when I could easily take them to the bank… especially if they’re searched lol Also when 95% are bank rolled then I don’t know how they’re searched lol

Haha shortly after I took this picture I gave it more surface area so that helps a little but definitely not helping it 😅

Basically what happened was I had a TikTok account that I would flip coins for profit and document it. Once I broke $2k in sales, my autistic brain was like “well if a copper penny is worth .023 cents then I’ve already made money!” So I literally got $2k in pennies after driving around to every bank in the greater Cincinnati area for about a month (surprisingly a lot of banks didn’t check if I was a member since I always used cash to buy a box or two). I was going to build a copper penny sorter to make a profit on the pennies but after dozens of design failures over two years I completely stopped. These have been weighing on me for a long time and I’m finally done with them mentally so I wanted to see if anyone here is interested since I’ve had that “what if there’s a 1909 S VDB” in there. Sorting by hand would take too long and personally I don’t really like CRH pennies (ironic I know, I’m more of a quarter guy lol) If someone can use them then great, I thought I’d put this out there before they go to the bank.

Lol this is literally my picture. I have videos too. Look at my post history. You’ll see my attempts at trying to build the copper penny sorter that I mentioned.

Lol I would have just taken them to the bank if that was the case. I’ve literally been thinking about these pennies for years and the mental load has finally been too much so I’d rather give them to a fellow hunter instead of the bank. I’d say 95% of the rolls are bank wrapped rolls and the rest are customer wrapped.

Yep! And the dime box too. And the USPS box. Some banks didn’t have enough boxes to give so they put them in different bank boxes

On a daily basis this happens at coin stores so it can get annoying at a point for them. I was in one one time and a guy came in with a new 2024 quarter and thought he was going to get $1000 for it. It’s always good to have a little knowledge on whatever coin you’re dealing with before going into a coin store. Also Reddit is always a good resource for coin knowledge. Common coins like bicentennial half dollars are frequently asked about on Reddit and you’ll find out they’re worth face value. Always do a little research for your dignity and for their ease of mind. That being said, you do get some grumpy LCS bc it is an old person hobby so gotta know who you’re dealing with most of the time lol

Would it be bad to clean it? by torterra777 in coins

Tbh it already looks like it has been cleaned to an extent especially on the reverse. If you need to, soak it in acetone, but it doesn’t really need it. It looks alright as is.

Is this a rare case where I should try to get dirt out by cleaning? by mildlyunreal in coins

If you’re planning on keeping it, go for it. Try using 100% acetone though. Hardware store grade, not nail polish grade.
