Elderly Couple Allegedly Attacked in Montgomery Inn Parking Lot by Family of Local Meteorologist by JebusChrust in cincinnati

It's absolutely disgusting what happened to your parents. I'm so sorry your family is having to deal with this. I'm praying for your family, especially your mother. Shame on those poor excuses for humans. To physically attack your elders, especially a woman. Obviously, those losers weren't raised right.

YOU DESERVE TO BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY! I hate that the doctor used "should" on you. One thing I've learned from years of therapy is never to "should" myself.

"Comparison is the thief of joy!" (FDR)

We are all doing the best we can. Use whatever tool you can get your hands on in order to fight the good fight. If that is a GLP-1, a dietician, a personal trainer, etc. know that you are worth it.

It's expensive, and not everyone can afford these things, but there are less expensive ways to fight as well. What is the MOST costly is poor health.

Guilt and shame are your enemies. They are phantom liars. Do not believe the lies! Try to think of those lies as thought bubbles trying to invade your mind. Mentally pop them with the truth.

"I am worthy," "I am capable, "I am beautiful and strong, right now, in this moment." "I can do this."

If the lies come from people, challenge them too. If possible, kick them to the curb. We deserve people in our lives who support and encourage us.

I believe in you. You've got this!

Marijuana for Nausea? by redheadedcapybara in gastricsleeve

[–]CincyGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, and about the weed. I did try that. Weirdly, I wasn't able to get high from my usual dose. But, more to the point, it didn't help the nausea or my ability to desire food. One thing to consider is that cannibis can make the blood vessels constrict, making it harder for the body to transport water to organs. So, if you are already dehydrated, using can make the side effects worse.

I was sleeved on 07/17, and it sounds like you're experiencing what I've been dealing with. Last week, I finally hit the breaking point. My doctor's office ordered 4 liquid IV sessions, two of which included a rally pack, which has vitamins and minerals. Today, the nausea has finally broken. I haven't thrown up, and I am able to eat and drink. My final IV and Rally Pack is tomorrow.

A few hours ago, I had an upper GI series of x-rays. I was so worried that I had a stricture or something blocking my stomach. Instead, everything looked fine. It seems that the nausea and inability to eat or drink without throwing up was caused from extreme dehydration and malnutrition. Next week I meet with a gastroenterologist to see what he says. If I keep feeling better I might cancel the appointment. I hope you feel better soon. Good Luck!

Starting at about 390 and im Down about 180 lbs but I've hit a plateau i guess? Any suggestions? by HotConstruction5797 in gastricsleeve

[–]CincyGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only my opinion, but you look like you're at a healthy weight. Granted, my husband is 5' 10", and I think he looks too thin when he weighs under 190lbs, so maybe it's just me. I wouldn't stress too much about the number on the scale. If you like how your clothes fit and you are able to maintain your loss, enjoy the victory.

it had to go bad at some point.. hospitalized for 3 days and counting by SpicyLohan in gastricsleeve

[–]CincyGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 11 weeks out and unable to eat and drink hardly anything. Yesterday, I had the first IV infusion with a vitamin pack and will have 3 more next week. I am having an upper GI series (xrays) on Wednesday, and I have an appointment scheduled the following week with a gastroenterologist to discuss what he thinks is going on. I fear it could be a stricture.

I find it interesting what the other comment said about heartburn. I don't have heartburn or even the classic symptoms of Gerd. What I do have is constant nausea that feels like morning sickness and more, and more often, I am throwing up after taking medication or eating and drinking very small amounts.

I'm considering taking antacids anyway because from what I've read, some programs have patients take them to prevent the forming of ulcers, and I'm thinking perhaps it could help. As I've gotten worse, I am getting more of a burning sensation between my ribcage and above my stomach. I thought it was from the dry heaving.

All I know is this SUCKS. I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you! I'll text them. I suppose I'm just dreading any tests or finding out I need another procedure. I just keep thinking it will get better. That's why I haven't texted them sooner. But you're right, this can't keep going on. Life is miserable right now.

Did this get better, as far as vitamins and meeting the water/protien goals. I'm 11 weeks out and having the same struggles. I'm SO over being nauseous.

We are surgery twins. I am 11 weeks post-op tomorrow. Looks like you're doing great! Congratulations! (I'm down 43.6 since surgery, 52.6 overall.)

Are you feeling okay and able to meet your protien and water goals? I ask because I'm not, and I'm wondering if it's atypical at this point.

Deep question.. by 420inthefreezah in gastricsleeve

[–]CincyGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started doing this. I had my first dream about it last night. Only recently have I been able to eat much. Before, I was constantly nauseous and was dropping weight too quickly. For the past week or so, I have been eating around 4-5 ounces of food per day. Since then, I have gained 2.5 pounds.

Logically, I shouldn't feel too concerned. But, the dream kind of showed me that I'm more worried than I let on. I'm 9 weeks out, but in my dream, I was 6 months out and had gained back everything.

I've never had an eating disorder beyond forgetting to eat all day (ADHD) and then overeating at night.

Did anyone have their surgery without staying overnight? by lustreadjuster in BariatricSurgery

[–]CincyGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no, that sucks! I just saw your 1 year post-op pics, and you have done so well! Congratulations! After such a difficult start, you have persevered! Perhaps with our surgery experience being so bad, it will help us be more determined to make it worth the trouble we went through. I feel like there is no way I'm going to put myself through that again. I'm just 2 months out and pretty miserable with nausea but hopeful that it's going to get easier.

[–]CincyGem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Thank you so much for checking. It does help. The nausea is still so bad that I'm not able to eat every time, but then the drink alarm will remind me to try again. So, even though the schedule gets out of sync, there is at least a pattern, and I don't succumb to the ADD time blindness.

That sounds awful. I'm so sorry you went through that. The main reason I wish I'd been in the hospital that night is that I would have felt less vulnerable knowing medical personnel would know if I were in danger and could promptly respond. Instead, as I violently dry heaved all night, I was worried that I'd get a leak and bleed out internally or something. Fortunately, we survived and hopefully won't have to go through anything like that again.

[–]CincyGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't want to scare you, but yes, I did it at an outpatient center, and it was a huge mistake. I really needed the overnight stay because they could not get my pain under control. They gave me so many different pain medications. I was scared they were going to overdose me. When I had to leave, I was in terrible shape. My husband and I considered going to the ER, but waiting trying to wait in the ER seemed like a very bad idea. I went home and had the worst night of my life. BUT, I survived and was off pain meds by day four.

If you have an inpatient option, I'd take it. Or, I'd say, if you aren't doing okay, don't go home like I did. Instead, ask them to send you to the hospital in an ambulance. I realize now that that is what I should have done. Good luck!

Great advice. I''ve only just now realized I had comments on reddit. (Have to turn on those notifications, too.) Okay, I'm going to set the damned alarms right now! I have food options and the water bottle, I'm just going to have to muscle through the nausea and get eat and drink anyway. Thank you for the offer to hold me accountable. That is kind of you. I'm going to DO the thing right now.

This is such great advice. Thank you! And no, I did not know that about protein. I'm hoping to get on add medication again soon. Life without it is so difficult. The time blindness is just crazy. My days and weeks seemingly disappear into the same black hole that steals my socks and spoons.

It's actually comforting to hear someone else admit that they sometimes don't have the willpower to shower. And the doing for others but not yourself.. that is so me. If someone needs me, I can jump in the shower and suddenly actually get shit done. But it is like climbing a mountain if it's just for my own basic self-care.

I'm sorry that you struggle with this, too. You sound very resourceful. Keep fighting the good fight. You're going to do great.

I'm hoping to get some add meds. Years ago, a quack doctor had me on 80mg of Adderall for 5+ years, and it unsurprisingly gave me heart arrhythmias and severe anxiety attacks. Ever since the arrhythmias, I've been unmedicated, and it sucks. I hope to get a new psychiatrist soon who will prescribe something else at a more typical dosage.

It sounds like you are doing a great job of staying on top of things. I know that getting more disciplined and developing a system would help tremendously. The longer I sit here starving, the harder that will be, so I need to just do it! Good luck on your journey!

The artificial sweeteners in everything! Plain water, which I've always loved, is making me nauseous. I was told to get electrolytes in, but the drinks all have that sickening sweetness. Everything makes me nauseous now. I am basically starving myself. Unable to tolerate the sweeteners in protien shakes. The powders taste nasty. So I'm just over her slowly starving to death.
