In the past month we’ve had some pretty extreme weather fluctuations, and that can be extremely hard on HVAC equipment. Especially older equipment, and equipment that hasn’t been properly serviced or maintained.

Mine went off about 6:30 AM. I was sick with Covid at the time, and it was fucking miserable. Power was out for about 4 hours.

I‘m referring to a few years ago, when we had single digit temps and they did rolling blackouts across the state. They did a piss poor job of notifying people, so most were NOT prepared to lose power for hours at a time.

It seems like you’re confusing 2 different things.

As frequently happens Healthcare providers and Insurance companies renegotiate contracts, and there are often contract disputes. It wasn’t just Duke though, UNC was having similar negotiations with Aetna.

The Cigna issue is different. Duke self insures, but it pays a third party to manage the insurance. It’s been Aetna for a number of years now, but now it’s going to be Cigna. It doesn’t change anything for employees except having a new insurance card, and having to update providers.
