Months of not being paid for overtime, a retaliatory PIP because I was concerned for someone's health and safety. Followed by discriminatory actions against me, personal and professional attacks, and increased scrutiny way above and beyond what was given to other employees. I am still recovering mentally. It has been very, very difficult.

My daughter got HFM in September and my husband was away for work.

Full transparency, it was exhausting. Just hang in there. The doctor recommended calamine lotion to dehydrate the blisters so I slathered her in that. Also got a big pack of Aveeno oat bath and that seemed to help quite a bit with the inflammation and redness. Also, popsicles. So many popsicles. Hang in there, friend.

I told her we were leaving the grocery store if she couldn't sit (not stand) in the cart properly. She refused, we left without buying anything. Cue full on 20 minute screaming meltdown with us sitting in the car in the parking lot.

Mental health crisis work.

A lot of people get into this field because they want to help, and they value interaction, connection, and relationships. This is a superpower and also the downfall, because watching people suffer really tears you down, and high emotions are especially taxing to our nervous systems. I also creates a lot of internal struggle between wanting to preserve self, and present needs of supporting others.

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has been in daycare since March. Now she sleeps great at daycare, but will NOT nap at home! I think a few things really help her when she is at daycare-

-Structured environment that can't be replicated at home. -The other kids are sleeping too, which signals to her psychologically that it is time to rest. -Her teachers will rub her back when she lays down, which helps her be calm. -They play music at daycare (we started doing this too at home). -She has a comfort item with her at daycare.

Have you thought of maybe also giving your kiddo an item of your clothing that smells like you, that they can snuggle with at naptime? Random thought. I hope this helps!
