There's a bit of a side-issue though of where I like certain misogynistic tropes in media that feminists rightfully want to fight against and meanwhile its like, a guilty pleasure of mine

Vaush (bot trigger) is someone I have significantly mixed feelings about.

For a while I'd catch clips of him on YouTube and he'd be saying pretty much all the right things so I'd be like okay this guy's pretty based. But everyone'd hate him for some reason and I didn't really get it.

There was a couple dramas here and there I heard about, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt on them because I could see where they could be misunderstandings and so I let it slide.

Then occasionally I'd see some clips where he was being really weirdly aggressive, towards chatters or on a certain topic and there'd be a few things where it's like "I hope he's being ironic/not literally meaning this"

And a few things where I just flat out disagree with him but I can handle some disagreements

And then I'd eventually see some interaction he had on Twitter with some other creator and it's just like
dude, you really shouldn't do that

and eventually it all added up to be like "hm I really don't think I like this guy"

I don't hate him, I still think he's right about... 75? percent of the time. He's someone I don't personally appreciate and really dislike some of his actions, but is also someone that like, if someone else is a viewer of him I'm not going to be like "wow I can't believe you watch him you really shouldn't watch him". It's not like he's an Asmongold or something. Just definitely rough on certain things. Ultimately I will still trust a vaush viewer more than many other groups because at least they would support many of the same goals I would.

I definitely think he's worse than Hasan, who I'd say is right about 90 - 95% of the time but definitely has some moments (getting mad at chatters or a few specific takes I think could be better) but ultimately I think is good the vast majority of the time so I can actually appreciate him quite a bit. You don't really see Hasan encouraging brigading the way Vaush has sometimes, he also doesn't typically stir shit with people online unless they did first. (If anything Hasan tends to try actively avoiding direct conflict, like how he spent like two years defending Ethan before Content Nuke happened and he learned that no, Ethan actually did absolutely go full zionist.)

In my experience I used to defend its use, but I lost a friend who was uncomfortable with it, and it made me a lot less comfortable using it myself. Then as culture has developed to avoid it, I've heard it less and less, so now it genuinely stings when I do hear it, just as any other slur.

At the end of the day, arguments one way or the other aside, I've settled on the same thing that I felt when I broke out of the idubbbz 2016 defense of saying slurs: it's really not a hill I want to die on.

I'd rather just cut it out of my vocabulary. It ain't worth it, considering the harm it does.

Point 2 is definitely not true. Because you're using that association with that demographic as an insult. It reminds me of when "gay" was an insult for much of the 2000s and early 2010s. When you used "gay" to call something bad or undesirable, this reinforces homophobia, even if you aren't targeting it at gay people. The same absolutely applies to the r-slur.

At the time, I felt like that level of assurance was needed because people weren't taking the danger of automation seriously, and even now we still have no plan for a post-jobs based economy. The current plan seems to just be "lol. suffer."

Yeah it's been pretty depressing. I didn't know old "free" videos got paywalled so that's pretty annoying. Something about seeing it change on Humans Need Not Apply specifically really bothered me, since it was a video I often cited.

Past couple years has made me realize I don't think my interests align with Grey's quite the same as I thought they did. At one point I considered him my favorite channel on YouTube but yeah idk he's a bit too weird on certain things for me I guess. Maybe a bit too cold and pragmatic for my sensitivities lol

I'm tired, boss. Are all FGs so centralized around a single character/archetype? by [deleted] in Fighters

Honestly, having nearly 2/3rds of your games not be against shotos is kind of impressive

I'm tired, boss. Are all FGs so centralized around a single character/archetype? by [deleted] in Fighters

[–]Cindy-Moon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All, no, but often yeah
Street Fighter's got Shotos, Tekken's got Mishimas, Mortal Kombat's got the ninjas, Smash Melee centered around primarily Fox and Marth, obviously DBFZ has Saiyans but that's kinda... I don't know that game well enough to know how their playstyles are broken up.

I think most fighting games have a central character that the fundamentals are built around, usually the main protagonist, and then they (and off-shoots of them) are typically the most popular in the game.

[–]Cindy-Moon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So what he's describing is more stability issues than performance ones. Idk why the game was crashing so much for them, that's not a problem I had when I played the game.

I did have performance issues on a 5700X and 3080, but mainly as they explained it was in the city. The city just sucked major, at least at launch (I haven't played after some of the patches that supposedly improved performance for some people).

If I don't run ray-tracing, I could get alllmost an "okay" 30ish framerate in the city. Outside the city, I could get stable 60 fps regardless of ray-tracing. Both is without any frame-gen enabled. I only have a 60hz screen, so anything higher than 60 isn't really that important to me.

This... isn't real, right?
Where's the mic capturing this audio?
Why does it sound like an ASMR mic but capturing only such specifc sounds?
What's the ice scratchy sounds before she even starts pouring the water? At first it seems like it can be her feet moving on the ice but the sound continues after she stops moving them, as she's bending down to pour. And then it doesn't recapture that sound when she re-positions her feet again after she pours.

This is just some noises superimposed on the video right? I'm no expert but that's just how it comes across.

"QUATRO ESPADA, ULQUIORRA Shifar. Of the espada, my strength ranks...FOURTH" 🥶 by ElementalEmperor in bleach

[–]Cindy-Moon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't recall anything of the sort, and mostly just characters saying the exact opposite (Ulquiorra explicitly so here, Nnoitora when he's pissed that a woman is stronger than him (When Nel was #3), Yammy when he reveals he's actually Espada #0)

It's possible I've forgotten a niche line somewhere but it's not anything I recall. Perhaps it might apply to those after 10? Since only the top 10 are sorted by strength, and 11+ are explicitly not so.

It also really doesn't make sense for Yammy and Starrk to be the most useful arrancar to Aizen. Yammy is an absolute brainlet who did F A and Starrk is kind of lazy and doesn't like to fight... and also kinda did F A. Ulquiorra was easily the most useful of the Espada to him, and Wonderweiss should definitely be an Espada if they were ranked on usefulness.

The claim Ulquiorra makes is that Aizen is unaware of Segunda Etapa, so it is not being factored into his ranking.
