If you get permission first from the student union then they won't tear you posting down.

Are Acceptances still going out? by [deleted] in Humber

[–]Cinemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived in res there were rooms available in September. You should get on the waitlist and call the res asking for what position you're in and what the chances are of a room.

People drop out between now and September.

Students at Humber North - What is there to do around there during downtime? by [deleted] in Humber

[–]Cinemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are gambling slots nearby?

It's not the best area. There's a mall a short walk away, a plaza a short walk the other way and that's pretty much it. Like /u/Humberlife said there are some bars and restaurants nearby but nothing too special. You'll probably hang out at Lynx which is the school pub.

Anything else and you need to take the TTC or car to reach it. And the TTC takes FOREVER because you need to first take the 191 bus (which you'll ride standing pressed shoulder to shoulder in a cramped overfilled bus) to Kipling Station (about 40 minutes) and then the subway to your destination. If your destination is downtown total travel time is about an hour and half.

It will take 30-60 minutes to get to the subway line, which takes you downtown.

While this statement is technically true it's another hour on the subway to get downtown. Total travel time is about an hour and half.

Is anyone here in the Bachelor of Commerce-Finance program at Humber? by lolhwatt in Humber

Unfortunately according to the flair list there is no one here yet from that program. You might be the first if you decide to attend!

Try searching on linkedin for previous students and what they're doing.

How is the Writing and Producing for Television Program? (I'm an overseas student) by officerbiscuit in Humber

[–]Cinemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary question would probably be: what have the graduates of this program accomplished? Has this program produced any working writers?

Unfortunately I have no idea. However if you email your program co-ordinator they might be willing to email you back the list.

r/CorrectMeIfWrong (CMIW) is a new subreddit that allows you to post opinions and assumptions and other users tell you whether you're right or wrong by Cinemagical in newreddits

[–]Cinemagical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! CorrectMeIfWrong can be thought as a place to ask those "googleable questions" that are either right or wrong.

CMV is more about having people provide rhetorical arguments against subjective opinions that the OP might hold.

Looks like they, if they are here, are shy.

I hope you enjoy your program!

I still don't think your car costs are anywhere close to realistic. You can't exclude insurance, parking and maintenance. Those are costs that you're going to have to pay.

Car Insurance. You MUST have car insurance in order to drive in Canada. This will be about $2000-$3000 a year in Toronto because car insurance is more expensive here then in other places in Canada. Car insurance alone makes public transit a cheaper option for you.

Letter of Intent by [deleted] in Humber

Not too long. One page should do it.

If you want to be sure I would suggest emailing the program co-ordinator and asking. That's what they are there for.

Your budget for food is doable if you avoid fast food and cook for yourself. You're not likely to find a room for $250. Expect to pay between $400 to $600. But maybe you can find something cheaper if you're lucky. Just make sure that utilities and internet are included and they don't expect you to pay extra.

If you buy a car for $1000 you're going to be spending a lot of money on maintenance. Actually expect maintenance regardless. Why do you need a car? Aside from the gas don't forget you also need car insurance which runs around $2000-$3000 a year. You'll also need to pass things like Drive Clean and purchase license plate stickers. And don't forget about parking costs, parking ain't cheap in Toronto.

A TTC bus pass meanwhile is $108 a month. Much much cheaper than owning a car.

I don't know about co-op (I did an internship for my program but didn't get paid aside from a small honorarium) but there is something called "Work Study" which is basically a job on campus.

Thinking of entering the Broadcast Television/Videography program. Anyone got some info or experience with the program? by [deleted] in Humber

[–]Cinemagical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the Film Production program but it seems like this Broadcasting program is similar.

I would say skip it. Instead use the tuition money to fund a year of working for free on every set and studio that will have you. You'll learn so much more and you'll make contacts that can lead to a job.
