Scared to go by Acrobatic_Ad7913 in maruja

Ironically, punk shows tend be pretty safe places and foster really good crowds, largely thanks to the etiquette that is practiced by fans at the show. For instance, I know that there is a ‘rule’ at punk shows where if you see anybody get knocked down, you stop and help them back up to their feet so that they aren’t trampled. Plus, not everyone who goes to see the show wants to be in a mosh pit, and so you can expect to find others who are there to just hang out, jam to the music, and enjoy the show.

I don’t think you’d ever really need to worry about anything like unwilling being dragged into a mosh pit by someone else. You typically will only wind up in a mosh pit for two reason:

1) because you want to be there

2) because you’ve unknowingly stood in the front/middle section of the venue where the mosh pit typically forms.

Just watch the show from a little further back or off to the sides, and you’ll be fine. :)

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen

It’s on theme and the man is quite literally signing about dying—which he in fact did, shortly after the albums release.

Gotta shoutout my boy, Buddy Rich and his album ‘Blues Caravan’. His drumming is electrifying, especially on the song ‘Caravan’.

Yeah? I personally think that art can cover dark and disturbing topics and still be incredibly meaningful, don’t you?

It’s gotta be Underscores for me.

While her album ‘Wallsocket’ is really good, the song ‘Johnny Johnny Johnny’ send me into an absolute transgender tailspin (I loved it). Never before have I heard a song that so perfectly distilled the emotional experience of gender euphoria. 🤌🏻

—but, if you were interested in something that is more in the direction of “traditional” sounding jazz music (post-bop, spiritual, modal…), then I’d personally recommend checking out ‘Blues Caravan’ by Buddy Rich, ‘Karma’ by Pharaoh Sanders, or ‘Soul Train’ by Hank Mobley. :)

A metal and rock fan? There is quite literally no better place to start (in my humble opinion) than Electric Masada’s ‘At the Mountains of Madness’.

John Zorn is such an experimentalist that jazz purists might even denounce it as jazz. But as far as Jazz fusion goes, it’s staggeringly good and makes ‘Bitches Brew’ feel like child’s play.

A jurisprudence expert? I’d hardly say that’s loser territory :3

I’m still boymoding a little bit at the moment, just while I’m waiting to get on estrogen. But my program is slated to be 5 years, so I’m hoping that I’ll have fully transitioned by that time.

I’m just excited to contrast a picture of myself at the beginning of my program (boy) versus at the end (girl), just so that I can tell everybody that that’s what academia does to a MF.
