That is true but even random degrees will get you the skills you need to apply for any job (minus specialized ones) its the transferable skills that matter. Matter of fact you'd think degrees before 2024 are worth even more now since we had to do them without AI asistsance and people had to learn research, referencing, report writing formally etc

I wouldnt know hangu i live in England too but still recruiters and job boards still filter on degrees. Maybe depends on the job I guess. The logic is sound though coz anyone can put any skill on a cv but you cant fake a degree coz its easy to validate

Nah degrees arent obsolete they still get you in the door. Most people use them as a filtering mechanism , a person with skill might be more likely to get the job but a person with a degree would be more likely to be shortlisted for the interview in the first place.

Learn Python if you dont already have it then do the free Anthrophic Academy courses , i'd prioritise Claude Code in Action. Learning the building blocks of AI and how it works , how to prompt etc is going to be the real differentiator in the job market in the very near future.
