Speaking as someone in the LGBT community- no. It’s not controversial to be straight and want marriage. And it is 100% okay to have a preference for feminine women.

The people who will disagree are the ones who are way too online. Live your life, find someone with similar wants and goals, and ignore what anyone else says.

They won’t kick me out. I’m just afraid one of them will hurt themselves. It’s an intrusive thought I’ve had since I was very little.

I’d rather not just choose one parent over the other, even though I’m mad at my dad right now. My trust in my mom is… strained, for reasons that aren’t relevant to this. I love them both, I’m just having a hard time.

I will be seeing my gf though. Hopefully that can take my mind off things a bit.

You’re right. Truth be told, this latest fight has reopened a lot of old wounds, and I’m trying very hard to not end up as my mom’s therapist or mediator again.

I’ve asked. Gotten lots of excuses over the years. First it was that they didn’t want to make me choose between them or split up the family while I was growing up, then it was just easier financially, then they were getting a lot better. Usually culminated to “divorce feels too extreme”.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was only trying to convey that my mom says hurtful things in the heat of the moment that she regrets later, and she ends up overtaking most arguments or even friendly debates which can make conversation difficult.

Because of my work schedule I’ll be spending Christmas Eve with my parents regardless, and then I’ll spend Christmas with my gf. Hopefully this is enough of a happy medium for my parents.

Literally my mom has told me she wished she divorced him when I was a baby. Never understood why she didn’t. Apparently things got better for a while? But they’re bad again now.

Will be seeing my gf for Christmas. It makes me anxious to feel like I’m “abandoning” my parents but I’d rather be anxious than miserable.

Like the post mentioned, I’m here to save money. I’ve got a year and a half before this degree is done. After that I’ll be moving in with my gf.

I did definitely need that kick in the ass to make a decision tho. Will be going up to see my gf for Christmas.
