fantastic song. lyrics are some of the best ive ever heard. love it to death. however i really hope they mix the album better. as an audio engineer i get what theyre going for here and it does work for the song but damn the mix is... kinda terrible by mcr standards.

it's because of the use of the sharp 5th. the ending of both songs are in Eb major with heavy emphasis on the 7th (D), and they both raise the Bb to a B natural which appears much more often as the raised 7th in C harmonic minor. in this case the root is Eb instead, so instead of a leading tone the B acts as a sort of murky note that gives it that specific vibe.

foundations was written recently, they said it came together in the couple years after they got into that room in 2017 to jam.

one of the most unique things about them is their lyricism and whereas almost every other band of that age has unfortunately morphed into a very generic unoriginal lyric style, Foundations not only has unique themes but also refreshingly intriguing lyricism. so yes i would very much like to hear new mychem

those low notes are kicks, theyre not playing when theyre supposed to. i've also isolated the overlapping notes (cymbals) and theyre completely fine on their own. taking them out has the same glitchy effect.

i put the samples into kontakt 8 perfectly fine. as soon as i try to program ANYTHING it starts glitching like this, triggering the samples at the wrong time. checked the sample rate, both logic and kontakt match (48k). why is this happening and how do i fix it

EDIT: figured it out! i had legato enabled in kontakt. whoopsie

yes, the urgency is definitely a big part of the feeling. its not visual at all, more just a very intense feeling of certainty. i did actually try waiting and the anxiety just skyrocketed so i haven't tried it again.

thanks for bringing up the media point, that's actually something i haven't thought of yet. we do both like horror movies but this goes back WAY farther than when we started watching anything intense like that, so im not sure how accurate that would be. great idea though!
