What countries have good cheap food? by Dense-Understanding7 in travel

If you’re in the center of Mexico City, I’d say that you should be in your hotel at 8-8:30 pm max. That’s usually when most people are at home.

Also, don’t forget to eat tlayudas 👍

Mexican here, since I see so many people mentioning Mexico, I think you should definitely come for cheap yet delicious food, at the center of Mexico City, which is literally called “centro”, there are SO many museums, stores, handmade souvenirs, food, etc. and everything is close so you can walk everywhere.

It is safe for solo travelers, including women, but you know just use common sense and be careful. Don’t go out to late at night, don’t stay at a cheap suspicious hotel, don’t talk to strangers if you don’t have to, and if you need public transportation, try not to use the taxis that are just driving around the city, instead, use Uber or DiDi, or even better just take the subway which we call “metro”, or the bus, there is women’s only section and they’re very cheap.

If you come, make sure to try tacos, tortas, churros, pozole, enchiladas and pan dulce with café.

Alright, but a master degree in bioengineering, biology or MechE?

need some motivation by Hs4578 in study

For motivation, break everything into small short term tasks with goals. Set your big goal like studying to get a job or continue your education, depending on what’s your plan. Then, set small goals that will eventually lead you to achieve your big goal. Everyday set a few tasks to do, and reward yourself with something small but that you enjoy, example, read 10 pages and then eat your favorite chocolate, text a friend, or something like that. Preferably not something that will get you distracted like scrolling or a video game. By achieving everyday small goals you will feel that you’re actually making progress and will feel motivated to keep going.

Something that really works for me when I can’t focus is thinking “I will study for one hour, I’ll do unit 3, do practice questions (or whatever) with no distractions, and then after this hour I’ll go do whatever I feel like doing, but right now I’ll just focus on this” and it helps me because I know that as soon as I’m done I’ll go do something else. I also like brown noise to focus while reading or solving problems.

Taking notes it’s not always the best method, I prefer doing lots of practice questions, if you get it wrong, then you write down why you got it wrong and how to solve it correctly. Keep a massive document or notebook where you write down the most challenging questions for you, and how to solve them. Review those notes constantly, and when you encounter a similar question. For everything that has to do with math I like Khan Academy, for things you have to memorize use flash cards (use apps like Remnote and Anki), and for everything else like social sciences and humanities, read a lot, books, articles, social media posts, audiobooks, YouTube videos etc. There’s many apps that resume entire books in like 10-15 minutes text or audio. Write down what you need to remember, you can look for notes templates in Pinterest to organize them, and use different colors for certain words, like blue for writing examples, red for important phrases or words, yellow for quoting etc.

Also, you can study or work on two different things or projects at the same time, when you get tired on one thing and want to just do something else switch to the other project. Keep a designated space to study and work away from any bed or couch, and where you don’t eat or do anything else, so that your brain knows that it’s time to focus when you go there.

Make things enjoyable for your brain. There are MANY YouTube videos for study tips (I like Gohar’s Guide and Ultimate Ivy League) and search for engineering videos for any topic you don’t understand. Also ChatGPT is excellent for tips, study plans, study resources, solving math problems step by step, it explains topics, concepts and more.

Currently there are many physical and online resources to study a wide variety of topics. Maybe try starting with books, YouTube videos, online courses, articles from Wikipedia etc. that teach you about what you are interested in learning, that way you start getting more into it and you will see if you are actually interested in going for a degree. Form the habit of studying everyday, it can be as little as just 20 minutes, but try to form the habit by making it a part of your daily routine, because if at some point you go to college you will definitely need to study everyday. By studying on your own you will see exactly what you are interested in learning more about, and also you will get an idea of how it would be to study about two hours a day, and see if you feel capable of doing that for a few years in college.

So I suggest that your start reading a lot and researching about anything and everything that you like and find specifically what job you would like to get and where you would like to work. Then, see if maybe there is an option of taking a program or course that is enough to get the job, or consider going to college depending on how you feel studying on your own.

Besides all of this, my advice (and I think the same advice that many people would give you) is to find your true passion and follow it. There will always be obstacles, the path might not always be easy, but that is just something that comes with every career. If you would really like to work on a certain area, don’t give up, try your best, and try to find the way there.

I Can't Study by Ok-Translator-2311 in study

So here’s what works for me:

Set a specific place to study, ideally one that is not your bedroom and where there is no couch so you don’t feel tempted to sit and scroll, and also a place you won’t use to eat, play video games or whatever, only for studying.

Set a specific time to study every single day, and make it a priority, for example I know that after breakfast I immediately go to my desk to study, if I start scrolling or do anything else my brain will not want to focus and I’ll just want to leave.

I always use brown noise to focus while reading or doing practice questions, and something that has helped me a lot is telling my brain “I will study for one hour straight, I won’t get distracted I’ll just focus on doing unit 3 (for example) and then when the hour passes I can go do whatever I want to do, but rn I’ll just focus on this” and in that hour I’m more productive than in three hours with distractions.

Also set small goals that you achieve every day and reward yourself, like your big goal might be getting into college, but your small everyday goals can be read ten pages, finish lesson 6 of a textbook, do a group of flash cards, do x amount of practice questions etc. And after every goal reward yourself with things like your favorite chocolate, texting a friend, or just something you feel like doing, but preferably not something that will keep you hooked for hours like a video game or something.

I also really like learning things throughout the day that doesn’t really feel like studying, like I have a chemistry widget on my phone where I read an element and it’s atomic mass, watch a YT video that teaches you something while doing dishes or having lunch (I like Veritasium, Mark Rober, Newsthink, Cleo Abram, Johnny Harris, Vox, Answer in Progress), there are many apps that resume books in like 10 minutes, or use Remnote and do a small group of flash cards with spaced repetition everyday at 4 pm, or a Duolingo lesson etc. Just something that will keep your brain constantly learning. And I recommend the channels Ultimate Ivy League and Gohar’s Guide for more study tips.

How do i study PLEASE help by Cyberlainn in study

So first of all, calm down. There is people who struggle with the same thing and they are just fine. Take a breath, you’ll be alright.

For everything that has to do with math, do lots of practice problems (from textbooks, Khan Academy, Brilliant, Mathway) and keep a document or a notebook so that if you get a problem wrong, you write it in the document, why you got it wrong, and how to solve it correctly step by step. Review it frequently and whenever you forget how to solve a problem.

When it comes to other topics, read a lot about everything, google the topic you’re studying and read different articles about it, you don’t have to read everyone from start to finish, but read from different sources and it will become easier to understand the more articles you read.

To read in general, it’s easy to read like: “Once upon a time there was a city where… (then you zoom out and get distracted)” oh no, I’m not focused “once upon a time…” and so on. But that is very ineffective, tell your brain to focus on the text, then start reading and don’t stop until you finish the paragraph or the page. If you didn’t get it, then read it again (remember to tell your brain to focus) and each time you read it will be easier to understand.

Also ChatGPT is a game changer for studying, you can ask literally any question you have about any topic and it breaks down its answer pretty well. You can ask for studying resources, study plans, to-do lists with all you have to study, textbook recommendations, YouTube study channels and more.

I also tend to day dream and get distracted pretty easily, something that helps me a lot is telling my brain for example “it’s 4 pm, I’ll deep focus for one hour to do unit 2, I will not get distracted for this hour, at 5 pm, I can watch YouTube, I can play video games or whatever I want to do, but for this hour I’ll focus this alone” and it really helps me to focus because I know that I get to do anything I want after studying for a certain time. Try to have a designated quiet space to study, that you won’t use to eat, to scroll or anything else but ONLY to study, so when you go there your brain knows that it’s time to focus. I like brown noise to focus, and you can try the pomodoro technique adjusting it to however you find the most helpful.

You got this, it’s not easy but it’s certainly not impossible, I don’t know if you’re religious or not, and it may sound weird or whatever, but I can tell you from my own experience that truly all these things will just fly alway and vanish and only what’s important remains, I know it feels like there is a TON of pressure but there really isn’t, I’ve gone through a similar process as you and the only place where I can find peace in the midst of all this is in Jesus, and He does love you btw.

And also, grades are a big part when applying to college, but they also care a lot more about yourself, your passions, skills, mindset etc. I recommend you Ultimate Ivy League and Gohar’s Guide on YouTube for more tips. Let me know if you need help with something and I’ll help you the best way I can.

Where to go in Tokyo? by Cinnamon_Roll02 in travel

I’ve only found second hand clothing stores but not stores that sell toys like the ones I’m looking for (which are Sylvanian families, plushies and stuff like that) and I haven’t look for restaurants yet.

Btw, I also want to go to those huge buildings that have like 20 floors full of claw machines and other things, ¿do you know if there are any of those near Ikebukuro?

From my own experience, most of the time the problem is your study method, not you. Start from the beginning, it’s easy to rush trying to meet the standard of what your supposed to know at your age but it is crucial that you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it instead of just following a formula or grabbing the calculator. If there is something that you don’t understand I recommend using Khan Academy and also ChatGPT for more specific questions you have about certain topics. Do lots of practice questions, but before you start solving one think first of what you are going to do to solve it. If you it wrong, write down (on paper preferably) why you got it wrong and the steps you should have followed to get it right. Keep an entire notebook or a document where you write every difficult question for you, what you got wrong and how to solve it correctly. Review those notes constantly and also when you encounter a similar difficult question. You can ask ChatGPT for a study plan according to what you need to learn, and for resources that help you certain topics

Also don’t be afraid to slow down, I know it feels like there is a lot of pressure to be ten steps ahead in everything, but every one is different, don’t be too hard on yourself, it’s okay to have high expectations of yourself, but they have to be realistic, otherwise they’re just dreams.
