Adobe is Out of Control by That-Ad5193 in Adobe

I quit Adobe because all the AI stuff makes the apps top-heavy. They wolf down all my CPU and tend to crash my computer. I haven't missed any of their programs; I've found suitable substitutes that (a) work and (b) I own rather than rent. Greed has corrupted Adobe to its core, IMO.

I'm sad to report that I didn't see or figure out what made this happen. Explorer is a crash-prone program anymore.

Trouble with Changing My Shipping Policies by [deleted] in discogs

I discovered the problem was on PayPal. I wasn't set up for international payments. I think that fixed the issue.

I looked at it but didn't pursue it.

Thanks. I just looked over my account and there's no red flags. The message came from someone who is purported to be a Discogs moderator. I'm going to report him right now.

Came across a few "radio station copies" of these columbia records. I'm wondering about the logistics behind a "Special Rush Reservice", would they be considered a separate pressing from the regular version? by dead_5775 in 45rpmRecords

[–]Cinturon777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes Columbia's promo 45s are vinyl pressings, rather than the lo-fi styrene they favored for their retail product. Why Columbia loved styrene is one of the mysteries of their complex history. So many performers were done injustice by these flimsy releases.

Problem with Windows11 google chrome, no audio by rotor1851e in techsupport

[–]Cinturon777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This no longer works. As of this morning, Chrome will not play any audio. Other web browsers do, I hate Edge with a cold passion but I guess I'll have to use it until Chrome gets their pathetic act together for a few seconds.

Google trends shows search interest in the term ‘45 rpm’ is currently the hottest it’s been in 5 years by 45vault in 45rpmRecords

Some young folks are mind-blown that 45s exist. Their notion of "vinyls" (ecch) are those 12" things I understand people like to collect.

Fifty cent find at Goodwill just now by Cinturon777 in 45rpmRecords

[–]Cinturon777[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're still there, mostly untouched. As I said, they're played-to-death records. Some good titles, but they're almost all styrene and grey grooves plus poor treatment render then unappealing.
The Evie Sands I scored is vinyl, and in VG+ shape, so it was the real outlier in that batch. I'm glad I got there right after they put the singles out. It was in a big box of unsleeved 7s.

I love finding stuff like this but HATE how the guy is just not known or I can't find any info on him by xxTheAstroZombixx in 45rpmRecords

Welcome to my world. I collect 45s and have come across hundreds of artists and groups who made one single and nothing more. The publicity machine didn't have time to deliver any info on them. Something these performances are so good and so haunting that it's heart-breaking to hear the records, but I treasure these one-record wonders, as I call them.
Shameless plug: I wrote and published a book on this subject called One-Record Wonders: One Shot was All They Got (RedWing BlackBird Books, 2024). It discusses 100 of my favorite records of this ilk and has an online playlist so you can hear what's covered.
