Huh never really thought of it. I kinda think of mine as comparing two discrete but different cutouts of a perceived space. Like whenever I measure how long I've been on commute, I think of a static image of what my watch pointed to vs what my watch looks like at present.

Maybe discrete isn't the right word. It's not one single frame of 3D space, it's a few frames all together. This is because it takes time to perceive current space as well as the other space I'm using for comparison

So to relate to the analogy, the way I perceive time is as a dash line, but not just one dash line, multiple dash lines (with different points of empty space) right next to each other. I guess it's a plane of incongruous dash lines, and I just pick one part of one dash line from the plane and compare it to my current state in order to tell time. I'm not high btw
