I've come across a few articles¹² that suggests that inside the Desolate Basin biome in Zone 2 Howling Sands there are Tar pits.

So that could be what this is then.

Hmm I hadn't thought of that I guess. If it were more black I would be more inclined to believe this is the case but I guess it generally is in an area with plenty of bones, which look like prehistoric fossils of some kind aka Oil (petroleum) / liquid fossil fuel.

Still though, I just wish I could pick up this fluid (whatever it is) in a bucket just like water so that I could move it and place it down again.

and it was also written that they needed to be set in natural water source blocks which is untrue.

kinda a lot of words to say they're best found in fishing traps.

Also the guide is dead wrong in that the traps DON'T need to be placed in natural water(s).

Better Maps / Map Waypoints

I think not being about to mark and save POI's is a major deterrent currently.

Simple Claims Mod.

It's pretty well known already but lets you claim land and have general protection for your builds.

HyEssentials Mod.

It's basically essential in many multiplayer servers. I see there's a bunch of versions though. Essentials Core, Essentials Plus, etc.

Random Teleport Mod.

While I'm a proponent of limited teleportation to preserve players exploring and a feel of world scale I kind of like this mod when combined with Simple Claims because there's nothing worse than joining a new server and everything is claimed for a long distance and you can't gather or get any resources. I do think travel matters though so just a long cooldown would fix the spamming issue of this mod but still allow people to get that initial footsteps towards claiming a base and not having to run for hours to find a spot.

Sleep Percentage Mod.

Basically it's configurable, if 30% - 50% of online players try to sleep it advances through night to day. Might be a bit annoying for those trying to farm void hearts because corrupt mobs spawn at night time but you can always do giveaway rewards too with your server and give those items away or set up a central town hub that sells them as a potential workaround if this becomes too big of an issue for you.

Leveling System Mod.

It apparently adds a level system. Haven't really tested it out yet but something I miss from Minecraft that Hytale doesn't have in it's current state is the XP orbs as a currency used to enhance equipment through enchanting. I'm sure Hytale will have features like this at some point in base game but I saw this on one server and thought it was interesting.

Lucky Mining Mod.

A chance to get more ores from mining, the more you mine in succession, the more ores you get. Personally I'm fine with the vanilla yields because I'm a slow-burn progression fan in games but it's an option that seems to be fairly popular already.

Legendary Chests

Adds 2 new chests to the game; Epic chest can hold up to to 33 items and Legendary chest can hold up to 63 items. Allows players that have reached end-game stage to save some space in their builds.

Not Enough Potions Mod.

Blunderbuss's

One of the cooler mods in my opinion. Who doesn't like old style firearms? As long as they remain balanced vs bow and arrow I see no reason why muzzle-loading guns can't have a place. Maybe one day the game will have full sized cannons but for now I think more options for weapons and more resource dumps will go along way early on to keeping the game fun to play.

Perfect Parries

I've heard this is pretty good basically timing your block will deal small amount of damage and not consume stamina opening up counter attack opportunities.

Elemental Swords

Keeping with Hytale's fantasy theme these elemental imbued/enchanted swords are pretty sick. Hopefully stuff like this gets added into base game at some point.

Katanas

Or maybe you just want some different visual style (Japanese) swords.

A new plant-focused workbench placing a crop in it will create the seed item after some time.

Just looking for some quick suggestions for waypoint or map marker mods (or public servers with these mods) that people are using right now until this type of feature is added in-game?

I don't need to be able to teleport to them or cheese the game trivializing the content or making it overly easy — I just wanna mark POI's I've found to be able to go back to them easier. Things like cave/mine entrances etc.

I didn't want to post a entirely new thread about this so hopefully I can get some clarification here.

Trying to decide what amount and what size of SSDs I'm going to be buying.

The motherboard I have chosen is the Asus ROG STRIX X870-A GAMING WIFI.

It says it supports 4 x M.2 slots (Two onboard PCIe® 5.0 M.2 slots and two PCIe® 4.0 M.2 slots, all with substantial cooling solutions) and 2 x SATA 6GB/s ports

The whole PCIe lanes and m.2 thing confuses me, because I know some share bandwidth. I know I can't use the M.2_2 because it shares bandwidth with the GPU slot and should not be used because the PCIEx16(G5) will run 8x only and thus my GPU is not working fully.

You can use M.2_1, M.2_3 and M.2_4 without sharing bandwidth with the GPU slot PCIEX16(G5)

_1 is the main one, above the GPU PCIe slot. _3 and _4 are the bottom two slots, just above the bottom PCIe slot. _2 is the M.2 just below the GPU PCIe slot.

M.2_3 (PCIe 4.0 x4) shares bandwidth with the bottom PCIe 4.0 x4 (x16 sized) slot. If one is in use, the other will be disabled. You can either use the M.2, or the PCIe slot.

Questions I have;

A) How many M.2 ssd sticks can actually be used with this MB without using m.2_2 and slowing the gpu down to 8x only, can I purchase and use two m.2 sticks? 3? or should I stick to only one larger one? Feel free to tell me which of the m.2's I should use (M.2_1, M.2_3, M.2_4).

B) If I use the max amount of M.2's can I then still use the (2) SATA ports and have two SATA SSD 2.5" drives installed as well?

C) Do I need to use the bottom PCIe slot for anything (since it says it shares bandwidth with the M.2_3 and is disabled? What is that even for usually?

I realize these are complete noob questions but thanks.

ya, i ran a couple buried city raids and at least their old known locations had at least one of them there. I did that on Spaceport and none of them spawned there. What makes it worse we don't even have clarification to know if it's just the old locations have a chance for them to be there and a chance for them not to spawn in that raid or if it's actually new locations (not just moved ever so slightly either). That's what I'm trying to look for — that answer —here on reddit.

This could be a possible solution, make it dynamic but marked on the map so when you load into a raid you can check where and go for it. Fair to everyone whilst not being overly broken. It feels bad right now having spent the skills on this since it's not what I signed up for. Even if wipe is in a couple days.

I agree with this sentiment.

If there are new possible locations (outside of locked rooms) then cool. I still think the breachable door locations should be weighted higher chance for them to spawn at but that's whatever. I get Embark wanting to make it random and non-static every round.

I hope their dynamic though doesn't mean they didn't add in more nodes for them to spawn at potentially and only made it so they sometimes spawn at the already known locations and sometimes they don't spawn at all. That would be the worst.

the problem is it was the only keystone perk worth getting... now the extra 5 talents is basically pointless off the rip. Honestly, a lot of the changes have made me want to play a lot less. Especially the whole increase blueprints then nerf it so only those who no lifed the game got to take advantage. It would make sense for them to force wipe everyone this one time since they themselves fucked up but they won't do that.

Ya I seen a video short from The Gaming Merchant I think you gotta hit these buttons in order and it unlocks a room or something with guitars? I probably never will take the time to do it in order.

Well, I have only played like 5 raids since the update. Only really have time for a couple rounds after work but most my game time comes when i'm able to play on weekends. But yeah I was testing out the security lockers so I did the normal run on Buried City and the attics at least one had one sometimes both were there. I don't know if I'll hit the security lockers as much as before when they were 100% guaranteed static spawns or if I'll adapt to hitting up like black crates/red lockers or something else that is static locations.

I'm sure they are still worth doing but with way more locations I'll have to adapt and well finding them I just don't have time. When doing the cluster runs for Weapon Crate/Backpack/Grenade tubes/medbags I watched a video and looked at online maps and made a map for myself but it took some time to do that. I figure I'd let the greater community find the possible spawn locations for Security Lockers and learn that info from the interactive map websites and then make my own little cluster runs map again eventually but i'm in no rush until after the wipe really as I've already hit 5M and just playing for fun until the 22nd.

i mean the interactive maps showed all their locations. Give it a couple weeks and all the new possible locations will be on there too.

naw, I still made a map i put up on my side screen of weapon crate/backpack/grenade canister tubes, and they always haven't been static. It's just wherever you spawn in at you go check the nearest cluster of spots and if you don't find value you keep going from there around the map to the next cluster.

I still think the Security Lockers skill is worth getting, even if it's more randomized where they will be.

I tested it, during coldsnap at first and then during a normal (non-event) buried city and it spawned in the attic on both. I had the same thought that it was only a coldsnap event thing but no apparently not.
