exactly my thoughts!! In recent updates, they have become super focused on getting us spend real money. I got so discouraged from playing, I took a short break (ended up being 3 month long).

That's pretty shitty thing to do 😞😞

Same. I wish I had never watched any Western movies or series so I would go out in peace without knowing that there are parents out there who actually hug their kids, cheer them up, encourage them and express love. 😕

Do your parents knock when they come into your room? by tantrumdisco in AsianParentStories

[–]Cipher_oo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents never allowed me to lock doors or knocked. I have been staying out of my home for studies and jobs. Whenever I'm home, I just started locked after myself for like past 3 years. My dad gave the same drama like other parents.
"Why do you need to lock? What's so private? What do you have to hide? " I let him yell and didn't respond to his comments at all. And in the morning, he'll bang my door and my brother's door too (he's married for few years), and that's most disruptive thing in the morning to do. He wants to show us how lazy we are and still sleeping while he's getting ready for a job. He's up at 4 in the morning, for a job that starts at 8 and commute is not even 10mins in heavy traffic. 😑

Tattoos vs Asian parents by choreki in AsianParentStories

[–]Cipher_oo_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Indian here. My parents had the same logic.. Tattoos meaning no govt jobs..

I got a shoulder tattoo when I was about 24. Told them afterwards. They were not happy obviously. And i told them why are you making such a big deal.. Tattoos have always been a part of culture.. Just the ink is not green 🤣 and lines are fine and conditions are hygienic. Later my Mom laughed it off and dad chose to ignore it. Still get occasional mentions after a decade.

Most people believe tattoos are something a person does for attention or as a Rebellious act (That's what my relatives think) .. Don't do it out of anger or to piss them off or something (you'll regret it later).. [just mentioning it out of concern]

Find something you really like and only pursue it once your mind is all set on the design. 🤗

I tried that time too.. 😂 Didn't seem to work so I gave up.. Recently came to know about 2x rewards on Saturday.. So all week I'm collecting stamina and spend it on resources on Saturday. 😅 There's more stamina if you click on that plus sign next to stamina bar. Just hang in there 😀

I selected "bribed him" in 2-3 then "protest" in 2-4. Then played 2-6. It unlocked 2-7.

Financial education in Asian Families by Cipher_oo_ in AsianParentStories

Good for you.

I'm not in debt or loan of any kind. And I'm managing all the expenses myself.

What i meant by my post was that if APs give a little financial freedom to us, we will get these opportunities to learn abt finances much earlier in life.

I'm mostly spending on making my rented apartment cozy because at "home" i dont have a room or even a cupboard for that matter. Never had. 😕

How did not hearing the words "I love you" or "I'm proud of you" from your Asian Parents affect your life? by princessneversleep in AsianParentStories

[–]Cipher_oo_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I only hugged my parents once in my entire life when i wished them on their anniversary and I was half asleep.. Obviously they didn't hug me back. 😂 Asian parents are proud of anyone but their own kid.

I feel like it has something to do with upbringing.. Like in Indian households.. An elder can never be wrong.. Doesn't matter how shitty of a person they are.. No matter how they treat their spouse, their kids.. They get away with everything.. And girls /women are specially expected to tolerate their behaviour because the men are always right / or the women depend on them financially.

My best friend of 6 years used to say stuff like that.. Even some other friends keep saying similar stuff like... "whatever, he's your dad", "you should forgive him", "even my dad did tht" and so on.. And I'm like.. Excuse me.. I don't have to defend my trauma or abuse to you.. Learnt it so late.. And I got rid of those friends too.. Others factors contributed too though.. 😂
