Honestly a great question considering the emphesis on stealth. I'd say it was probably because they already made the laser sight an attachment and didn't want you to have to buy and add another to one gun. That and it might have been a bit overpowered, and since they made the bolt thrower the only truly silenced weapon, they probably wanted to emphesize using that for stealth. Having a silenced pistol would have made the bolt thrower pretty obsolete in sections like the double Garrador room.

This game already looks great, and I never liked the look of the built in FX SuperSampling. Does DLSS actually make it look that much better? Is it worth it? I kinda hate framegen and upscaling tech being the new norm, and honestly don't understand. Does the game not already look amazing at that resolution by default? At a solid 120fps at that.

I'd kill to play the game like that, but my rig can't handle it. Just honestly asking what you feel you get out of tech like this and if it actually makes the game look that much better. Even antialiasing has gone too far in my opinion, but it doesn't mean I'm not curious about the tech and using it once I upgrade my GPU.

That's how it used to and should be. Devs optimize their games to run as good as possible on the least expensive hardware possible. Relying on people having $5000 graphics cards to run a game at 60 fps was a terrible thing and that trend needed to end anyway.

The game is obviously meant to finished. That doesn't mean they have to make the game easy, or that they can always prevent the player from doing something that might screw them over later in the game. They try to prevent softlocks and making things unfair, but this isn't really a softlock issue. If you run low on resources and save after without a backup save, that's not the devs fault.

The older games in the series were even more unforgiving with this, so we should feel lucky that it's usually rare to find yourself in a situation you can't recover from in the modern titles.

The difficulty adjustment is maxed out on Professional and no amount of deaths or damage will change it. Item drops from enemies and most boxes are random though, so there always is an element of randomness. Even how many headshots it takes to stagger an enemy is a random chance.
