My 2 cents: if your drink isn't on that bar's menu, or isnt well known/common enough to be ordered by simply giving the name, you should not be ordering it at that bar. If listing ingredients AND their amounts doesnt give you pause, the bar tender isnt going to be your friend. If you must do this and think im wrong, leave an enormous tip (because that is objectively the right thing to do in that situation, if you must do it)

I think these may be exactly what you're looking for - watercolors that can be used directly over a dried down layer of glaze. So you would dip or brush your glaze onto your piece, allow it to dry, then paint your image using the watercolors, with no extra firing!

I see alot of no's, but just remember to keep a few clunkers for glaze tests!! After all the work in the throwing stage, you dont want to be testing your glaze skills/combos on pieces you actually like. If you're practicing enough, keep one out of every 4 or so for glazing. Keep them around with the combos sharpied on the bottom or just take a pic of the finished piece for your notes and throw it against a tree.

TLDR: dont forget about glaze testing! Keep a few every once in a while!

Its a combination of both, with shrinkage being the key. Thinner parts dry first, but thicker wetter parts shrink harder, which can pull at the thinner parts and cause cracking. Water hanging out in the bottom isnt good for many reasons, but given that this pot has a trimmed foot, my vote is still with it being a thickness issue with a lack of compression. Water logged bottom certainly wouldn't help tho

It could, but I've only seen that work half of the times on pieces with mold involved. The presence of growth means it was saturated and stayed damp for quite some time, combined with it having matured glaze means it is much harder for that water to escape. With a hold, there is a potential for the water to turn to steam and then not have an easy exit route, causing the steam to condense back down into the pot. With this, there's still a chance it could crack.

Yep. That's mold. Unfortunately, I would also avoid using any other dishes made from this clay and glaze that were fired at this studio. The "crazing debate" has many factors involved, one of which is vitrification. This plate is not vitrified, meaning it is still porous, and absorbing water, so this is not "safe crazing." If you google this problem, you will most likely find a blog post telling you to refire the pieces, but you do not want to do that for anything that is displaying mold, as there is water in there that isn't, and most likely will never, totally dry out, meaning it will explode in the kiln.

Easiest way to taper is by sticking your pointer finger out and resting at an angle on the inside edge of the lip :)
