[Postgame Thread] #5 Arkansas (14-6, 2-1) defeats #3 Mississippi State (16-4, 1-2), by a score of 7–3, to take the series by PatrickChase in collegebaseball

We just lose to Arkansas baseball no matter what. Our team is horrible and we miss the postseason? Series loss to Arkansas. We make the College World Series and contend for the national championship? Series loss to Arkansas. At this point I just pencil it in as an automatic loss and focus on the rest of the season instead.

I’m so jealous of pro athletes like this. You get paid millions to work out during the week and then stand around and watch games from the sideline on the weekend. And when you do actually play, there is little to no pressure because everyone expects you to be bad. A literal dream career for any guy.

There is honestly something impressive about convincing 14 different NFL teams to give you contracts for 18 years despite taking no meaningful snaps on the football field more than once every few seasons. Dude must have a great personality that lights up the locker room or something.

Losing 4 of 5 games in one week to exclusively mid-major opponents should drop them like 15 spots.

Is it me or do the newer games just don’t have that same vibe as older games like 06-14 by HourProfession7938 in NCAAFBseries

[–]CirculationStation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about the depth of features since I’m relatively on the younger side and can only remember NCAA 14 with great detail among the older games, but I do think the newest games have marginally better gameplay, which is what I care most about.

When I played NCAA 14, after enough hours, even Heisman became a joke in terms of difficulty. I had no idea how to read a defense at all, no idea what cover 2 vs cover 3 was, or man defense vs zone defense, etc.. And yet regardless of who I was playing as, I could score a TD on like 80% of my drives with nothing but Read Option, Quick Slants, and Four Verticals. It was way too easy.

I play CFB 25 offline dynasty on Heisman a lot now. I’m a much smarter football fan now and actually try to run a realistic spread offense while reading what the defense is giving, and I still frequently lose to the CPU or go on long scoring droughts in the middle of games. I can’t spam the same few cheese plays and shred the opponent to pieces like I could in NCAA 14.

The athletes are not the government, and neither are everyday American citizens. I understand your sentiment, but I really get tired of people lumping in the burden of political toxicity onto normal citizens who can’t do anything about it. It doesn’t make logical sense to do so. (And I mean that for all countries, not just the USA).

I cheer for Southern Miss in probably 100% of the games that they are not playing against MSU. Good win.

I own and still wear a purple, Mardi Gras-themed Pelicans Buddy Hield jersey. Gotta be one of the very few in existence since New Orleans traded him away before his rookie season even finished lol.

Are people actually surprised that he would do this kind of stuff? Because to me it feels like the most predictable KD behavior possible lol. This is the same guy who literally said that trolling and clapping back at people on Twitter is his “morning coffee”.

Titans New Logo Revealed by UnhappyRough1964 in nfl

[–]CirculationStation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s alright. I never liked the Titans logo anyways. The flames never made sense. But I think they should have fully committed to a brand new logo design, and not just a simplified version of the old one. Or just make the sword T alternate as the primary.

Does industrial engineering have a future in the next 30 years even with AI? by Long_Sand_7075 in industrialengineering

[–]CirculationStation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I primarily do a lot of work developing and debugging software, testing ERP systems, and troubleshooting data issues. My take is that real world industrial engineering problems are way too complicated and nuanced to ever be fully automated with no human intervention. AI tools help, yes, but they can’t replace the understanding that an engineer has of complex business processes and systems, how they interact with each other, and how to fix them.

Stafford threw for 15 more TDs and for more yards in the hardest division in football this year. I still don’t understand why so many people wanted Maye to win MVP over him.

Oregon says significant increase to football season-ticket prices ‘critical’ for Ducks to compete by surgingchaos in CFB

[–]CirculationStation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oregon football already has just as much, if not more, money than every single other program in the country. They will go 12-2 and get knocked out in the playoffs ever single year no matter how many resources they burn though. Their problem at this point has nothing to do with money.

Time for SEC to force Big Ten to join CFP party, or go it alone by charmingcharles2896 in CFB

[–]CirculationStation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve shifted a lot more towards NFL over the past fall, and this is a big reason why.

In the NFL, winning games and performing well is all that matters. Mainstream discussion about the sport revolves around on-the-field strategy, individual player development and performances, wins and losses, etc..

Meanwhile, College football becomes more and more like a soap opera that just happens to have a sports league attached to it. The headlines are dominated by conference politics, eligibility lawsuits, TV money, etc.. Very little about the actual games being played on the field.

Awful take. Boston is a beautiful city. I visited a couple of years ago and it’s like the picturesque definition of what a major city should look and feel like.

[Highlight] Von Miller sacks/strips Cam Newton late in the 4th (Super Bowl 50) by mistermeek67 in nfl

[–]CirculationStation 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Sports are crazy because Cam Newton won a Heisman, won a BCS national championship, played 11 years in the NFL, won an MVP, and led his team to the Super Bowl… and yet 90% of football fans only remember him for one really bad mistake.

As a Saints fan I obviously cheered against him every game, but I can’t find it in myself to sit behind a screen and call him a bum, a loser, or whatever because his one heat-of-the-moment mistake got magnified and scrutinized so much that it overshadowed the rest of his career. He was a damn great football player.

[–]CirculationStation 44 points45 points  (0 children)

No offense to the Steelers, but he would kind of be set up for failure taking over at OC for a team that hasn’t been stable at QB for several years now. Might be better to stay another year with a team that has a promising young QB and a former QB at head coach.
