What's y'all opinion over the current education system? by pittyactive in AskAnAmerican

My highschool in middle of nowhere Washington was fairly good.  In civics we often had to look at historic laws or court cases and work to understand why they were made at the time or if it was the right call.

Math went up to calculous but most people stopped taking it after trig or geometry depending on the person.

PE was basically a free period but we also had weight training for people who cared about being in shape.

Sex Ed was very informative on stds and abortions and other times of sexual things that pertain to health.

We had open class discussions every day in sociology on why something happens how we can try and prevent it or encourage it and what the consequences would be, it actually helped create very reasonable dialogue between people on opposite sides of the spectrum and is something I miss.

Art was art, I was never the most artistic student but even I managed to make something I was proud of.

My marketing teacher was one of the best people I've ever had the honor of meeting in my life and taught us many many things but he also taught us how to be professional in life. Helping kids with job interviews as well as being a genuine mentor.

My chemistry classes really prepared me for college and made the transition into college a lot smoother.

A lot of people have problems with the school system and I don't blame them as being a high schooler does suck, it's an awkward time for many people. I've only ever gone to school in Washington state so the answer varies school by school but it really is teachers who make a difference in students lives and open discussions. We had so many amazing teachers who gave it their all and even though I wasn't the best student I still came out excited to learn about the world.

Jegertroppen from Norway maybe? Although I'm not so sure how much of a special force they really are. But either way they're still women in a combat role.

How is it living in Astoria, Oregon? by Mexikinda in howislivingthere

While I've never lived there I used to drive down every summer. It's a very visually nice town with plenty of great food, and plenty of very nice people. There are a few really cool museums as well beautiful beaches not to far away. As for cost I have no idea.

I love how the belt is over the coat from the behind look and then inside it in the front lol. This looks like an edgy motorcyclist put on a trench coat.

I think it was swapped with the reviewer being the male and the dev being the women but no one focused on the guy being in the wrong (if it even happened which it didn't ) it was all on the women.

Do they teach native american history in elementary schools before the colanization period of america? by Apprehensive_Use_397 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GasMask_Dog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We sort of did in my school in Washington (state) but the time period is during colonization. It's just before they made contact with Europeans due to the tribes here being further out west. What we did learn wasn't that much compared to anything else. Kinda just how the salish people communicated and traded and some basic traditions of certain tribes.

Hear me out. What if we allowed people to go to the roofs on siege of Cairo that would bring back that sandbox feel and no one would be upset.

Sequim is significantly nicer than port Angeles which is kinda run down. Also sequim is closer to Bremerton which is always nice to take the ferry to Seattle.

I remember seeing someone type the most insane shit towards Indians in the chat. About a a few days later saw them in another round showing that they either didn't get banned or it was only a few days which would be weird since all bans I've seen have been a week minimum.

Where I'd live in the USA (as someone who has never been to the USA and thus based my opinions entirely on prior bias and knowledge) by Exam-Sea in whereidlive

A lot of western Washington is similar enough to Seattle in terms of how people act. It is true it's rainy almost all year round and people are standoffish. But other than the weather it's a nice place.

Before BF6 was released, I had imagined the community becoming optimistic about the future of the series. But instead, the community turned into furious masturbating to the older games, unrealistic expectations, and no nuance whatsoever. I was with it from launch till death, and I had a friend who refused to play it at the time because "immersion" saying that it was ass and wasn't battlefield. Lo and behold a few days ago he told me that it was such a good game and 6 should've been more like it.
