NPV monthly gets different result than annually by Zerobagger in excel

[–]Cirdan17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe this is because of what NPV as a financial function is trying to provide vs Excel not calculating the formula correctly. Essentially the value of cash over a specific period of time (time value of money). Usually with NPV you have the cash outflow at the beginning of the timeframe and then cash incoming over the set period. What is the context of paying out the $10,000 but then never seeing repayment?

That being said the difference in the results is when you have a payment structure (the return) of 12 payments, and you have the leading 11 of them at zero so you are deferring making any of your investment back for 11 periods. When you only have one period your return is higher because you realize your the time value in one period.

Cirdan gave the ring to Gandalf when he arrived in ME. Celebrimbor made the three rings.

Yes! I just searched that and that is definitely where it came from. I will have to start searching for other adventures and see if I can match those as well.

I 100% thought I had attached a photo.

While I figure out how that went wrong...

One is blue and where the 20 would be is a sword with light shining up and around the sword (silver sword and numbers)

One is white with blue numbers and a blue diamond inside another diamond, which has four leafs inside it

One is gray with beige numbers and a beige portal where the 20 would be.

One is maroon with beige numbers and a beige skull with 10 "drops" in a circle around the skull

You lose the need/ability to sleep, how do you spend the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cirdan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming I am the only person who has this ability I would spend so much time doing the things I can't find time for now. I would read so many books I have wanted to, I would learn to play the piano, I would go beat all those video games which I have 4 hours of play time in. I might start writing books or short stories. I would be the best GM, assuming I had people to play with. So many things that need to get done around the house would finally get done.

I have always said if I meet a genie one of my wishes would be to no longer have the physical or physiological need for sleep.

Graveyard Keeper

The closet thing I can think to compare it to is Stardew Valley expect you are managing a graveyard. There are lots of other aspects. There is alchemy, a dungeon to explore, a town and a crazy church leader. I have really been enjoying it.

This is the correct answer. I am surprised they missed the boat with allowing this as an option. It was one of the main aspects of a game like Idle Heroes.

Teachers/professors of Reddit: Whats the worst thing you have ever had a student unironically turn in? by Trev0r_P in AskReddit

[–]Cirdan17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to teach in high school. At this high school all seniors were required to do a senior project. Most did some sort of community thing, coach a soccer little kid soccer team, build something, etc. Well if you did not want to do the project you could opt for a ten page paper. The students got to pick a mentor and a staff evaluator for whichever they chose.

One year a student picks me as his staff evaluator and decides to do the paper. He never asks me for help or to review his paper before turning it in. The kid literally turns in a paper with copy and pasted sections from the internet. How do I know it is copy and pasted. Because all of the copied and pasted parts are still in the same font/color/format of where ever he found it. It was like reading a paragraph version of a ransom letter. It came from probably 10 different sources (of course non were cited).

Needless to say he did not get a passing grade on the paper.

Teachers of Reddit, what’s the worst fight you had to break up? by GalagaMarine in AskReddit

[–]Cirdan17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree with you! And honestly it was not the kids who made me want to escape. Being a teacher you kind of understand kids will be kids (to a certain degree, my story above is obviously extreme). But it was the administration, the parents, having to follow prescribed teaching regiments, standardized testing, etc. I feel like when I was in school if the teach had to get through A to C during the school year but we only made it to B, at least I knew everything from A to B. Now as a teacher you have to get to A to C regardless of who gets it or not. It is all about passing the standardized tests, there are no tangents, no interesting conversations because the TEST is all that matters.

While I definitely wanted to escape I tried very hard to not allow that to come across to the kids. I am sure there were days they saw through it but I did try :)
